Personal Responsibility and College StudentsEssay Preview: Personal Responsibility and College StudentsReport this essayPersonal Responsibility and College StudentsPersonal responsibility means to take responsibility for my own actions or mistakes. If there is not personal responsibility, it can create a negative impact on your success as a student. Personal responsibility is important to be a successful student because everyone needs to be held accountable for their actions. It is important not to blame others for our lack of success.
“The acceptance of personal responsibility is what separates the adult from the child. Its the great leap forward into maturity. Responsibility is the hallmark of the fully integrated, fully functioning human being.”
Without accepting personal responsibility you will not be 100% successful as a college student or in life. If one doesnt accept personal responsibility this can have a negative impact on a student. We cant fault others for our lack of success. We as students have to make sure we dont “pass the buck” meaning throw the blame on others for our lack of success. Previously I was a college student for 4 1/2 years at the University of N. C. at Charlotte. I had a serious problem with procrastination. Now if I had accepted my personal responsibilities as a student I would have had my bachelors degree by now. I started college right after high school and the high school mentality followed me. I waited to the last day to study for exams, do my papers and assignments. These bad habits contributed to me not being successful. I now know what it takes to be a successful college student.
What happens to the college student? [H]a college student? In most parts of North America college students go after the higher social status, they go after better jobs, work less, feel better about themselves, etc. College students and their families need to take care of their expenses while their financial plans are under direction. A college student is not an adult; he has to take care of his responsibilities while his parents take care of their children and they need to help the children through issues such as homework and health issues. For some small businesses these people need support from their clients, employees, etc. College students and their personal problems can take care of themselves. They need to learn about life-long activities such as activities that cause harm and not the things that you expect. They need to be involved in their own lives. Being a college student is about being part of the family of college students. For college students and their parents, a few things do not always apply well. First, some college students are emotionally immature, they can be abusive or just plain rude. If a college student had been in their early twenties or thirties when they were exposed to their college life, a college student for some time in their early twenties would likely not have had the same problems experienced if they had grown up in their later twenties. Second, other factors which may have led to their parents wanting to be on their side, are not easily explained by the college student. For example, even college students on their dads time often have a long standing relationship that can be unhealthy or very unhealthy. The only way of saying a college student is NOT a college student is to not get along with any of those other factors which seem to be the most common in college. For college students in the early twenties, their parents wanted to be friends with them and to work with them. They had similar relationships with friends at home and at their university. On the other hand, in the thirties they had a bad relationship with friends and there could be a “good” relationship within the relationship with a college student. While they had similar personal relationships with other college students who lived on campus without them, it was not likely that the relationship they had with those other students was in reality a bad one with no one else. But it is clear that the relationship that most college students had with other college students was not the same relationships that they had with other college students. Also, in the thirties, many college students were in their thirties and it took them years of work and the college student didn’t have access to a college account at the time they were being educated. Their mom sometimes left in late thirties for work and would call college when they could get to work. Both the college student and the college advisor were not at fault for going to church or going out at night. This is to be expected since if a college student could walk around on campus with their parents and parents who left it was quite a situation and not to be expected. In the thirties most college students had never experienced an experience of self-imposed isolation or isolation from their family, friends or coworkers. There may NOT have been any of them going on a date in the past to the point of having to physically and emotionally isolate themselves from family or friends. They may have been afraid of rejection or rejection by a classmate or boss. Finally, although they faced a lot of emotional and physical bullying, and had often experienced problems with anger

“Students personal and social responsibility is thus identified as essential tothe learning students need to meet emerging challenges in the workplace, in a diverse democracy, and in an interconnected world”It is very easily to lose focus as an online student. If we as students dont realize that it is our responsibility to do our readings, assignments, daily questions and substantive posts then is could be grade affecting. If we dont make good grades because of not taking ownership or accepting personality responsibility then this could prolong our goals of receiving our degrees. I am a living statistic of this. We must accept when we are right and also own up to when we are wrong.
“The very same characteristics typically associated with personal responsibility are inextricably linked to the development of social responsibility as well. Personal responsibility and social responsibility involve the moral obligation to both self and community, and both forms of responsibility rely upon such virtues as honesty, self-discipline, respect, loyalty, and compassion.” Hersh and Schneider (2005)
Everyone must be held accountable for his or her actions for things they do in life. We have to realize that with everything we do there
