Big Five Personality Essay
When I got the results back from my “ The Big Five Personality Test” I must admit that the results did not surprise me. I scored low in openness to experience, which explains why I don’t plan to move off of the Eastern Shore. I also scored moderately on conscientiousness because I am a very laid back type of person. The Big Five Personality Test confirmed what I already know about myself. I don’t like change, I am a very laid back and I have a conscience and feel remorse and guilt. My personality has been developing over the last 18 years through age and experience. Whether I agree or not with the results what they tell me about myself is that I am a very laid back person, i don’t like to read between the lines, I like thing being straightforward, and that I don’t like change.
My results for Openness to Experience was that I am typically practical, traditional, conventional, and most comfortable in familiar surroundings which would make sense because I do not like big moves like moving out of state. This also means that I tend to see things more practical, literally, and focus more on the straightforward, and concrete. Which would make sense because I don’t like interpretations, and inferences. My results for Conscientiousness, which means that I am fairly average in my tendencies to respond to impulses. I probably have some long term goals and are fairly successful in pursuing them, but can be sidetracked sometimes when a particularly attractive diversion presents itself. Which means that it describes a person’s ability to exercise self-discipline and control in order to pursue their goals. My results for extravertedness, or extroverted, which describes a person’s inclination to seek internal stimulation from the outside world, especially in the form of attention from other people. Extraverts engage actively with others to earn friendship, admiration, power, status, excitement, and romance. This means that I am fairly average in my motivation to seek out social rewards. I probably have some desire for admiration, influence, and prestige, but I can also be content when I’m not winning recognition from others. My results in agreeableness was that I tend to put others’ needs before mine,
