Easter Dinner
Childhood memories
I used my memory in prewriting this story. I recalled the time of year the flowers in bloom, my pet lamb and the events that occurred on that Saturday in April.

My audience is my class and teacher.
Chronological
The tone is sad.
When I was a little kid around the age of Six years old my Grandfather bought me a lamb. This lamb was the snowiest white he had shiny eyes and was the most adorable thing. I loved my lamb, I named it Dukie. At Six I took on the responsibility of feeding it. I gave it water every day. We had several acres of land and our yard was always filled with laughter when Dukie and I played. I would chase him around the yard and other times Dukie would chase me around we had fun playing together. I suppose my relationship with my lamb can be compared to that of a boy and his dog.

As spring arrived, it was getting warmer outside. April had just begun the spring showers began to change everything around us. The rain had helped the earth turn greener, the flowers and trees were blooming, birds were chirping, and the sun was warm. Dukie and I could begin to enjoy longer days of play and fun. Life was good for this young child.

One Saturday morning my Grandfather asked me if I could help him out in the shed. I of course minded my grandfather and said “Yes Papou”. A little while later he said he was ready and I followed him out to the shed. I hadnt realized my lamb Dukie was in the shed. I did not question why either. As I looked at my lamb my Grandfather began to lay out a large plastic sheet on the concrete floor. My grandfather then asked me to hold my pet lamb Dukie, and I did what I was told. He pulled out a large butcher knife, probably the largest Ive ever seen, he told me to hold Dukie again, but this time he said to hold him very tight. He began to cut and to my horror he cut my poor little lambs throat. Tears started rolling down my face I began to cry and scream. My poor Dukie and I had to hold him. The next day was Easter Sunday. On Easter Sunday we had lamb for dinner. We did not eat just any ordinary lamb; we had the snowiest white lamb, with shiny eyes that went by the name Dukie who had a little friend who loved chasing him and being chased by him. The trauma I suffered I still carry with me to this day. Dukie was a cute little lamb.
