Introduction

The publication is a survey written by a couple of McKinsey consultants that seek to define the characteristics of successful – excellent, organizations using the McKinsey 7-S framework; Structure, Systems, Style, Staff, Skills, Strategy, and Shared Values. Their findings suggest that eight attributes are common for an excellent organization; bias for action, close to the customer, autonomy and entrepreneurship, productivity through people, hands on, value driven, stick to the knitting (=focus on what you do best), simple form lean staff, and simultaneous loose-tight properties (balance between centralized/decentralized organization).
According to the research we have made on the authors, both the authors are found to be well known management guru. And this fact made our attempt to give a critique on the book so hard. However, we have come up with

“We live in a Tom Peters world.”–Fortune
“Tom Peters has probably done more than anyone else to shift the debate on management from the confines of boardrooms, academia, and consultancies to a broader, worldwide audience, where it has become the staple diet of the media and managers alike. Peter Drucker has written more and his ideas have withstood a longer test of time, but it is Peters–as consultant, writer, columnist, seminar lecturer, and stage performer–whose energy, style, influence, and ideas have shaped new management thinking.”
In an in-depth analytic study released by Accentures Institute for Strategic Change in 2002, Peters scored 2nd among the top 50
