The Link Between Obesity and Advances in Home-Based Technology
Task1ProposalThe aim of this project is to research whether obesity has increased due to the advances in home-based technology around the world. By completing this research I want to be able to find out if things such as computer games etc. have directly affected the amount of people worldwide who are overweight. I also wish to find out if this is a serious issue and also to find out if anything is being done to prevent and reduce obesity. In order to find out if this is a worrying issue I will be aiming to answer the following questions:Is there a link between children’s weight and increases in video game playing and TV   viewing? How have these activities led to a decrease in physical activity?What is being done to prevent the levels of obesity on a national a worldwide scale?What is the difference in popular leisure activities now and leisure activities 25 years ago?The hypothesis I have decided to use is:“Obesity has increased in the last 25 years due to increased use of playing video games and watching television”To complete this piece of research I will be taking my information from various sources:Source Reason Used or not Journals More in depth information on the recent research on video games and watching TV and its effect of people’s weight. Internet To find facts, figures and statistics   Books To find out whether increases in television viewing and playing computer games  have led to a decrease in physical activity Newspapers Articles relating to this hypothesis Surveys To find out how many people take part in at least 1 hours physical activity each weekThroughout this research I will be providing graphs, statistics and facts etc. when explaining the fact that and increase in home technology has played a huge role in worldwide obesity levels.In order to carry out this piece of research effectively, I will need to evaluate both financial and human resources.  First of all I will have to find out if there are any costs involved in carrying out this research. In my opinion I feel that there will be none whatsoever because things such as paper, internet etc. are all provided for in our school facilities.
