Effects of Technology on Business[pic 1][pic 2]To what extent have technological advances affected businesses?Written by Courtney CoxContents:IntroductionE-CommerceCommunicationSelf-Service CheckoutsConclusionBibliographyIntroduction:The complexities of technology and the ways in which it affects the ever-changing business industry is, to me, a very intriguing aspect. This is why during this assignment I will be discussing the uses of E-commerce (‘A method of buying and selling goods and services over the internet’)[1], Web conferencing (‘A form of real time communication, RTC, in which multiple computer users, all connected to the internet see the same at all times in their web browsers‘)[2], social media (‘Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. ‘)[3] and a variety of other technological advances and the ways in which they have affected the day-to-day running and development of businesses.E-commerce:Firstly, I would like to mention the idea that the public has become more reliant on the use of technology which is shown by the percentage of adults using the internet in order to purchase goods and services online which has risen from 53% in 2008 to 74% during 2014[4].  In the meantime, a total of 5,839 high street stores have shut down with only 4,852 opening. The stores amongst those most affected were mobile phone shops which had 419 closures and outlets for cheque cashing were also affected with 117 closures.

Reasons for this may be due to the increased availability to research and order mobiles online, as well as the increased use of online banking which means that people are less reliant on visiting stores for processing cheques as money can be transferred easily over the internet.[pic 3]Within some market sectors, stores did open with the largest being  charity shops with 64 stores opening, followed closely by the opening of 62 coffee shops[5], this may be due to more items being donated to charities for them to sell and, coffee shops are becoming more desirable within society with Starbucks coffee being 52nd on the list of the world’s top 100 brands[6].This suggests that high street retailers are finding it increasingly difficult to compete with the continually growing number of online retailers.

Despite the above findings, some states have already set up in a very interesting or legal way to encourage the sale of alcohol.

The issue of sales and consumer privacy is something we do daily. All retailers and supermarkets must be more transparent and transparent by this time it will be many years before we’re happy to be able to sell you alcohol. That is why we’re calling for new standards to be introduced within this new age of the internet and the internet is a great way to increase the safety and security of our businesses and, ultimately, also give your customers more choice in shopping and buying. The internet is a huge source of information for many people but there is only so much information you can share in a few seconds. There is nothing in this world that is as important as the data you are having online and you will be happy to sit back, relax and get your data back at the nearest supermarket, coffee shop or convenience store and ask them how they can get more information and keep it safe. It is not going to happen overnight but a better way is not unlikely, an open discussion between retailers would also help ensure that there is no fear of fraud in our industry.

I’m sure many of you know how I’ve noticed this trend with my Facebook updates, especially for new shoppers, as some of them think online shopping can be very confusing and scary as well as intrusive and often leads them to commit a lot of criminal activity.[7] I think that you are most likely right to see the problem that people who haven’t tried online shopping for many years may be looking for and are scared to move on. We should always be concerned and look at the problems within our industry, it is one step above buying. If you are having some problems with your online purchases, please let me know and I’ll help you find a suitable store so we can all find the solution to your problems that you want.

For the very best advice, stay away from online retail and I will be happy to help you get online in a more professional and sensible way as some are concerned with your online shopping behaviours and would do well to take that into consideration when you are coming to buy online or when you’re heading out to buy online. The first question you should ask is who bought your product from you? Any reputable online retailer can answer that question and I welcome your questions. We would love to hear from you, please keep in contact with me with any inquiries you may have.[/p]

In the meantime, go shopping for goods online! It is always good to have a shop with a decent reputation for their quality products and the prices on some of them are affordable. It’s especially good to have an offer of a better quality and one that you can trust and which gives you some great discounts on the products you purchase. You can always visit their website and purchase from them. Once you’ve bought, you can choose which of two things you
