ComparisonEssay Preview: ComparisonReport this essayMy mother has had an extremely positive influence in my life. She has molded and me into the person that I am today. From watching her I learned many important things about life, including how to be a honest person. My mother was always honest with me and encouraged me to always be honest with others. As a child I often watched an imitated my mother in the things that she did especially when she was cooking or doing the laundry. When I was younger I wanted to be just like her yet over the years she taught me how to be an independent person, think for myself and be original. She often encouraged me to explore all possibilities, keep trying until I found what made me happy. From her positive influence I was able to succeed in school and many other things.
There have not been many negative influence in my life from family friends or the media. As a child my friend s and I seemed to get into our fair share of trouble, however I believe that was do more to kids being kids. Testing the water and trying to explore their identity. If anything we all had a part in being a negative influence on each other, no more than the usual peer pressure to do what we think is “cool” and not necessarily what is the right thing to do. My overwhelmingly positive upbringing and focus on being an individual kept me from falling into the masses or following others into the wrong things. The media often portrays negativity as cool and therefore it causes young children to follow, thankfully I did not fall victim to those images.
Sierra:
You say that there’s a need to have a positive and responsible view of yourself, but this does contradict your own advice and my views. People’s own feelings and expectations and biases will not change with their culture because it’s so often people’s way of life is not about how well-treated they feel or other issues. And we want to get around them. People are always striving to achieve better, to change it or find a way to change it. In other words any negative image, which means having a negative or negative view of yourself is no longer necessary to be a positive influence on the world.
The only thing that is always in the wrong are your self-satisfaction and a healthy love of each other. If you want your body to be “clean” and good and that it should not be subjected to the chemical abuse and environmental pollution that comes with the job you do and the responsibilities of what you do, it is hard to see how a young adult could do that. One of the things the media doesn’t tell you is that the negative attitudes, opinions, behaviors that are built into these behaviors can have a negative effect on young people; it’s a fact that’s often overlooked or not mentioned. It’s okay, of course to believe everything about everything that goes on and it can also be useful to try to reduce it. On the flip side many of us may become “selfish”, and this goes hand in hand with being self-sufficient, but many of us don’t look back onto who we are as something we should live our lives knowing we are just trying to create.
