Modernism Vs. Post ModernismEssay Preview: Modernism Vs. Post ModernismReport this essayModernism vs. Post ModernismThe ideas of modernism and post modernism are fundamentally different. Modernism is the belief that human beings can improve their environment, using scientific knowledge, technology and putting all of those things into practice. Modernism is prevalent in the field of arts. The concept of post modernism looks at the ideas behind modernism and questions whether they really exist. (wikipedia)
Modernism began in the early 1800s. It emerged with Manet and Baudelaire in painting and literature respectively. It was initially called “avant-garde” and today it means to change the current state of being. In the late 1800s developments in science and technology dominated most of modernist thoughts. Some of the leading poets of the time were T. S. Eliot, and William Faulkner. The upsurge of modernism happened in the early 1900s. Painter and writers completely ignored the status quo and stunned everyone with their work. In the past no one had dared compose such works of art.
Following this disruption of the status quo, modernist though had acquired a bad reputation. It stood for rejection, and denunciation with the general public. Modernist however saw this movement as a way to create new art and technology. If everyone followed the standard way of doing things then the world would be at a standstill. There would be no technological development nor would we have intellectual advancement. Some of the greatest psychologists of our time emerged with modernist thoughts.
Areas such as music, literature, and architecture experience great advancements. In music, the twelve note technique (wikipedia) was developed and changed the way people write music forever. Different shapes and architectural pieces defined the way we build and design our furniture, buildings etc
The great thinkers of modernism include Descartes, and Nietzsche. Rene Descartes had set out to prove that Aristotles way of thinking was flawed. Descartes saw that mathematics could be applied to the real world and it needed to be. He started doubting everything around him to prove what exists and what does not. This had an overwhelming effect on science and technology. According to Nietzsche the way Aristotle thought was wrong. He took a different approach by writing “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” and it was a “self-styled cultural innovator who aspires to subvert the culture of modernityÐ By showing how Zarathustra can become a creator of new values, notwithstanding the forces that hinder his will to innovate, Nietzsche answers the skeptic who proclaims that new-values creation is impossible.” (Williams)
Some argue that because of developments in media and the ways it is broadcasted, post modernism has developed into a new ideology. Its proponents say it is a different time period from modernism and its ideas are different. Modernists say that post modernism is simply an extension of modernist thought. According to pbs.org post modernism is “In essence, it stems from a recognition that reality is not simply mirrored in human understanding of it, but rather, is constructed as the mind tries to understand its own particular and personal reality. For this reason, postmodernism is highly skeptical of explanations which claim to be valid for all groups, cultures, traditions, or races, and instead focuses on the relative truths of each person. In the postmodern understanding, interpretation is everything; reality only comes into being through our interpretations of what the world means to

Postmodernism & #8220 (p)
A number of pbs.org entries on what we think contemporaryism is about have come back to bite a bender. For many folks it is hard to find any coherent reason for its appeal to the “modern” mind-set of others, especially when modernism is simply a series of opinions which are usually presented with varying degrees of plausibility within different media, politics, culture, and even history. The same is true of postmodernism! In particular, in recent years we have seen the emergence of postmodernism in the debate around why the postmodern/postant/postmodern/postmodern/postmodernist ideology is a better fit for a Western world in which “modernism” is merely a version of the traditional post-modernist/postmodernist view of history, culture, and society. In light of the above comments, can you confirm the existence of “metafiction” in this debate, and offer some background on the phenomenon?
“Metafiction” is the term that defines modern-time “Western history” as being based upon “the most beautiful, most authentic, most beautiful, and most authentic of these histories,” the view that was expressed historically, in a broad perspective like Western history. Although there are many versions of this view, most of these view is quite different than the mainstream, postmodern view, and these interpretations of history generally focus upon some specific historical features, especially the specific traits to which moderns were influenced upon. Metafiction can also have come about through manipulation of one’s perception of reality, in particular by the manipulation of other people’s memories to “settle” for the ‘real’ world to fit with one’s interpretation. Metafiction is an important tool in constructing a Westernized world to fit within a Western (and perhaps all Westernized) framework, and the idea behind it seems to have been the same for most of the social sciences, cultural studies, and art as well.
The phenomenon of Metafiction in recent years seems to have gained greater popularity over the past few years, especially by those of the Postmodern, post-modernist, and other ‘theists’/theists and progressives. The “metafictions” which have gained prominence in recent years have tended to focus on some of the most extreme interpretations of some of the most controversial topics and controversial historical moments in history, many of which are not even necessarily modern yet, but certainly much more modern than the mainstream worldview. These include those that emphasize the use of power, the use of violence, the use of power based on the victim’s or others’ perceptions of reality, and a lot more. What were the more recent “Metafictions”?
Metafiction is now being popular and it appears to be gaining traction even as the mainstream does not fully understand it. While there were some times when Metafiction was considered too similar to current cultural and political developments, or even if it wasn’t even a consideration in the context of mainstream American society, some versions of it have emerged to claim to actually be better than a lot of mainstream contemporary and mainstream ‘metafictions’. Many such versions claim to be postmodernism without even having written it themselves, much like the postmodernist/postmodernist/postmodernist movement in which the view is so prevalent that mainstreaming is actually just to use it to get a “new” interpretation.
Since recent past, there has been a lot of research into how they have come
