Poster Presentation Review
One of the first poster projects presented was Jens poster on Emily Dickinson. Emily Dickinson was born on December 10th, 1830. Throughout her life she wrote over 1800 poems. Very few of her poems were actually published during her lifetime. The greater part of her poems were published during after her death, in May 15th, 1886. Emily Dickinson lived her life as a reclusive, never leaving her house. During the presentation, it was interesting to learn to learn that Emily was romantically connected to so many people, and I only found it interesting because I thought that as a recluse, she wouldnt have much interaction with other people.

Next, I really enjoyed Jakes poster on Charlotte Perkins Gilman. C.P. Gilman was born July 3rd, 1860. Her most famous work was The Yellow Wallpaper. The Yellow Wallpaper shows a woman descent into mental psychosis. Gilman wrote The Yellow Wallpaper to show people, mainly men and doctors, that their methods of “healing” do not actually work. The Yellow Wallpaper was considered the most prolific work during the feminist movement, since it shows women to stand up for themselves, and to not just submit into what men say. Though The Yellow Wallpaper wasnt wrote about herself, the story and her own life have many similarities. C.P. Gilman suffered from post-partum depression after having her daughter Katharine. C.P. Gilman was also an advocate for nationalism.

Lastly, there was the poster session of Virginia Woolf. Virginia Woolf was born in London on January 25th, 1882. When she was a little girl she was sexually abused by her older half brother. In 1895, Woolfs mother died, which led to the mental start of her mental breakdown. Throughout her life, Virginia Woolf had bouts of depression. Woolf had a sexual relationship with Vita Sackville-West, which started about 1922. Virginia Woolf was a feminist and also considered to be one of the greatest modern innovators. On March 28th, 1941, Woolf drowned herself in the river near her own home.
