The first issue identified before actually launching the Vital Hair is the exclusion of the allocated potential litigation cost. Kelly claimed that including this cost will lessen the chance of the new product to be approved. This is because the additional cost will require a higher number of units to be sold to reach at least break-even. Referring on the calculation on Appendix A, it can be inferred that variable cost of $26.40 will require sales of at least $40,000,000 to reach break-even. However, if the litigation cost will be excluded, the company will only be required $32,195,122 worth of sales to break-even. Kelly has also identified that WWD has had successful lawsuits in the past; therefore, allocating such cost is not necessary. Although Kelly has disapproved that this cost will be indicated in the written report, she suggested that such cost will be identified in the oral presentation if desired or necessary.
The second issue identified is the relationship between Kelly and Diba. After a month of preparation for the presentation, Kelly has decided to present the project by herself, leaving Diba clueless of the current situation. This will be detrimental to the working relationship between the two especially that they are making decisions together.
