The prevalence of sedentary behaviors and obesity is and the relatively new area of obesity research which suggested that sedentary behaviors should be examined as a construct distinct from physical activity, shows result that is inconsistent as a problem that encourage this study. It is well- supported by several cited sources that gives the actual percentage on how many people suffering from obesity because of sedentary behaviors.
In this article, the authors outlined a clear and visible research purpose which is to investigate the prevalence of sedentary behaviors and low physical exercise, their interrelationships and possible gender differences. Evidence supports a strong association between limiting sedentary behavior (watching TV, computer use and reading ) although the effect of size of the association varies across studies. However a review of the article on the effect of the sedentary behavior state that the time spent reading was not related to obesity.
Besides numerous statement that seems to express author’s prediction that had been made, however in this article ,we found out that there is a imbalance in selecting the sample. The ratio man to women is quite big, due to that we think that the result produced in this research is not really accurate. This is difficult to convince the reader which sex/gender will have higher risk of falling to obesity because of the sample taken is imbalance. Hence, we suggest that the sample both male and female should be taken on small scale to increase the accuracy.
However this article has made us understand more for the complicated terms ,because of the definitions provided. This is easy for the readers to understand and avoid getting them into searching the meanings of the words. Hence, this provide great convenience for the readers.
