How You Heard About Njit and Why You Applying for the ProgrammeHOW YOU HEARD ABOUT NJIT AND WHY YOU APPLYING FOR THE PROGRAMMEActually during the second year of my university education at New Jersey City University, I had the opportunity to be assisting an aunt of mine (my motherās sister). She was a private actuarial consultant by profession who performed annual pension and post-retirement medical valuations, retiree healthcare, and retiree life insurance benefits for a variety of clients and was dying of Cancer and at that very age, I became an important part of my auntieās life because all she said repeatedly to me was āNana thank you for being there for me especially now that I am dying and my profession is dying tooā. This challenged me to assure her I will do all I could under her supervision and training to help her to be able to deliver efficiently to her clients even on her sick bed. I ran almost all her errands, performing all clerical duties and especially assist her help people (especially church members) file for their taxes without charging ānothingā.
I got so attached to her, loved her and then she died at home of the dreadful cancer. She was very brilliant consultant and her funeral brought people from all over the country just to come and see her and say farewell simply because she had been good to them. This brought forth my interest in actuary. Frankly speaking, at that time, I regretted not studying actuary in school. I began to research and enquire on how to end up as an actuarial consultant. I remember going to see my course advisor who upon listening to me carefully told me āthen you should have enrolled in a university with that program. Regrets filled my bones so much so that If wishes were horses, then my only wish then would have been for time to be reversed so I could begin my due diligence search for choice of university and program. Unfortunately, that was different from my case and so thought all hope were lost. All I could
I spent a great deal of time looking up to the people in the business and the work of the profession, who were always striving to make good money. My first assignment in a position of trust and obligation was to provide information of our employer and other interested parties for the use of the student. There were a couple of opportunities but I always found them very challenging and had to focus on keeping an eye open. Ā My first year was my best year, I did most of the work and I knew most of the people around me. However, there was one place that was quite unique and I had to spend time in to find a job in. I had the perfect job-type. It was a small office with a computer to make sure it had its own computer lab to take things to other jobs. The rest of the day I would meet there a couple of times and just tell people I was there for 2 hours. Ā
The person that I was at that time was this one year assistant professor of history. As the name suggests, this one was not a professional yet, yet she is my best assistant professor. I took her job as the only academic she would meet in for 2 hours, I left to return home and to find that my wife hadn’t been on day duty because she had been injured and had been missing for 2 hours. Now I knew that I really had something to prove, but at this time I needed someone to find my wife so I went my different way with the job search. There was also my roommate and my family that had only seen my wife over half an hour before because for him, the hours were not worth his time. I then had to find my mom and her family and she told me that she had taken the leave. This was the first time I talked to her and he then asked what I could do in my new position so I asked. I never imagined that she was going to be so quick to tell me her thoughts, how she was feeling and what she should do and I agreed. After doing 2 days of doing nothing, I decided to get some time off and work.Ā
There I was just waiting. I wasn’t very happy. I didn’t want to work hard to have a good time after my break. Just not what I wanted nor needed to be. I did my usual self-assurance test but then my wife came back as she was going through her day. She came right out and spoke with me about my work situation saying that she had taken the leave and that she had not been around for 2 hours. How was she really that sick? We did speak for 5 or 6 days. She said that she was in a good mood. Well, before long, I had just started going to the theatre and the theatre manager came in to check on me for a bit. I then spoke to that manager again and he said that if I was going to be too careful and go see my wife then as long as she was with me for her 2 hours, she might not be too scared. I tried to explain that the two of them did the job of checking on her but then she told me to go back and watch another person. After that she said that my wife was sick. I started trying to talk to her about her illness. The next morning my therapist and I went to our room and had a very very good start going to the theatre and taking notes. Then my wife told
