The Internet can be used to pay bills, shop for different products, used to obtain up to date news information or to merely chat with loved ones or to meet new people of different age groups, nationalities, or religious backgrounds. Chat rooms are a place on the Internet where different array of people of similar tastes, geographical areas or interests come to communicate by typing messages via their computer. The areas that will be covered in this research paper will be identity theft, hackers and what is being done to correct this problem and deter hackers. Companies are faced with the daily task of staying on top of technological advances and to make it harder for hackers to infiltrate their systems that house very pertinent information. The Internet has provided companies ways to conduct e-commerce, provide better customer service, reduce communication cost dramatically and to obtain the information needed for daily operations more rapidly. The entities that pose threats to the security of the Internet are hackers, employees and terrorist organizations. Companies are also experiencing problems from within, 78% (LateLineNews) said their employees abused Internet privileges, including downloading of pornography and pirated software.
Vulnerabilities associated with the Internet put government, business and individual users of the web at risk. People may ask the question, what is there to worry about when it comes to Internet security? To many people the response may be there is a whole lot to be worried about. Most people would like to feel secure and at ease when purchasing on line. This requires you to relinquish your personal information such as social security number, address or credit card numbers. The Internet is one of the fastest growing businesses out there that allows people to conduct business in the comfort of their own homes and to stay connected with the rest of the world.
