A None-For-Profit Organization
A None-for-Profit OrganizationYamileth HoffmanPalm Beach State CollegeA None-for-Profit OrganizationAccording to Gido and Clements (2015), the case study involves a meeting of the officers of the student community service organization that collects, buys, and distributes food for the needy. Their funds are almost exhausted and the demand for service is growing. The Needs         The students identified the need to find a way to find more funds, the need of more volunteers, and the need for more space. According to Gido and Clements (2015), projects are identified in various ways by different organizations. It is important to define the needs clearly (p.39). Some students may point out that they dont have a project plan for how to spend their current funding and need a project plan for their current work. Also, the students found that since the demands of the food bank have been increasing, they need more funds to support the project. They considered various options to find the money like organizing a fund-raising event or even asking the government to increase the allocation of resources to their project. They need for more volunteers for the growing project, and more space for food storage.

Project Objective        The objective is a statement of what is expected to be accomplished at the end product or deliverable. It can indicate the funds authorized for the project and the expected completion time (p.42). The students do not have a specific objective. They do not agree on what needs to be done to get the project going. They know what the needs are, but they do not agree on what is the best way to get the funds. They need about $10,000 to get through the year, but they had not desired what is the best idea if having a fund-raising event, ask the government to increase the funds, or think how to operate with less money.Assumptions        The assumptions include those that the project rationale or justification is based on (p.44). Some of the assumptions that I found in the case are the following: •    The service organization will run out of funds in two months.•    The local government is not able to provide additional funds.•    The demand for food assistance is increasing.•    The students need more space and more volunteers.•    They get some food donations, but not on a regular basis. People usually make assumptions when they do not fully understand the situation. In this case, the students cannot find the best way to meet the project needs.
