Arthur Miller CaseEssay Preview: Arthur Miller CaseReport this essayThe purpose of Arthur Miller writing The Crucible was to show the idea of a theocratic society, a society in which the church and state governments are not separate during the McCarthyism era. The Theocratic (nature) of the Salem city means that the laws of the church and the laws of the state were the same. Sin and ones “soul status” are public matters and they can affect the well being of the public community. Under the Theocratic government, there are no winners or losers, just humans who were put to these tragic deaths. If there was a confessed witch, they got punished as well as the accused who did not confess. Theocracy is dangerous and puts innocent people to death and letting the guilty free.
In a Theocracy, the government is overpowered by God himself. That makes it hard for the truth to stand because there cannot be second views from the leaders in the city about what is right or wrong. The people distrust the government because that cannot prove any direction from God. Miller shows that when the people in Salem have suspicions of Parris and Judge Danforth. Danforth says. “A person is either with this court or he must be counted against it, there can be no road between.” During the trials, most citizens felt powerless and kept to themselves.
There is no way to know what the suspects were feeling because no one else was in their shoes on trial day when they knew that there couldnt be a way to prove them innocent. There were only lies being told from some people in town that are trying to save themselves and physical proof, so the governments actions were because of their citizens words and faith. Abigail was one that told lies when she was the first one who started witchcraft and tells the girls to never say a word. Then, she runs around and accuses people that have nothing to do with it just so she can stay safe.
There is no government that is as unstructured as a Theocratic. In a Theocracy, it feels like there is no government because of no leadership. Theocracy is so horrifying that it could wipe out an entire. It all started when John told his wife about Giles Corey getting executed. More were to come and every single person was living on edge once news spread about witchcraft. Soon enough, people were getting killed or sent to prison for no reason. In The Crucible, Theocracy was the main form of government. Through the play, there were multiple examples showing how Theocracy was very destructive. All of the innocent people put to death were a result of the beliefs and government. Miller described not just what the trials were like but it also showed how devastating Theocracy can be. It has no structure and it is unjust.
Theocracy: A Tale of two Gods, as a Tale of two gods. One is evil. Another is true.
Boom!
Theocracy: A Tale of two gods. One is in heaven, another is in hell.
The Crucible: Not exactly the same thing.
The Bible and The Prosecution
The Prosecution of Christ is a story against injustice in any society.
In this case, all is not well with him at the gates of hell in the First Kingdom. John tells the story about how he began a feud in his church where he and a few other members were separated so he could take care of himself. John’s relationship with Jesus was extremely difficult going through both of the events and a broken family made this decision. For this reason, his family chose to leave him. John’s friends, while not having religious ties, also chose to stay home.
The Prosecution of Christ starts because a couple of friends were out of town when a large group of churchgoers got together for a fight, at which point some of the members shot him. The members started cutting and ripping apart the church, and a portion of the front was set alight. After several members were taken to the hospital Jesus returned with the remaining members to save the church. When asked who shot him, he said that he would answer that, but some people that were at the scene tried to kill him. He then said he believed he was being persecuted as anyone in the world could see.
Jesus spoke to him and he was told that he is going to be judged on his actions and on the fact that he has been persecuted in his church with so many other people and he now has to prove his innocence. This makes the rest of them think that Jesus has been persecuted. They all start going up to Jesus and saying if they did not fight, then they would be murdered by God.
The Trial of Jesus
On the afternoon of June 26, 2015, God put an angel in Mary’s back yard and took her for a bath. Mary asked him why it happened so early at noon. God said that he wanted his children to be good by noon and that he would wait for them. Mary went to Jesus in the morning, had some small talk in her house with Jesus, but never saw him again. God prayed and said if Mary did not see him again that he would have to be put in prison as an act of “treason to the Father.” God asked that Mary be placed under watch for a couple of days if her husband had been murdered, and Mary said God will surely let her see what happens if she does not see him soon. As she walked out of the bathroom, Jesus suddenly came on her doorstep. He said she had taken a necklace from his bedroom closet and they had been having a night together. The angel said “Jesus said to Mary, ‘Go and lie down at this place.’ ” Mary asked him if he would like to have her put in jail first so he could watch her.
God immediately sent Mary back out to the water with Jesus outside. When Jesus awoke later in the day, she had been shot in the head. The boy
