Conclusion:
According to the results found temperature is a factor the affects the rate of which dye diffuses in water. The dye disperses more rapidly in the hot water than in the cold water. The water molecules in the hot water are moving faster than those in the cold water, so they push the molecules of dye through the water at a faster rate due to this it enables the dye to move from an area of high concentration to low concentration rapidly. For example, it took 36 seconds for dye to diffuse in a cup of water at 100 degrees Celsius. In the cold water the molecules are moving at a much slower rate and therefore the dye diffuses into the water at a slower rate as well. For example in it took 60 seconds for the dye to diffuse in a cup of water that has a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius. In the room temperature water the molecules are in movement but not as slow as the cold water and not as fast as the hot water; hence the dye diffuses at a normal pace. For example, it took 45 seconds for the dye to diffuse in one cup of water that had a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. Overall the knowledge that can be gained from this experiment is that temperature can highly affect the rate of which dye diffuses into a solution.
