Although he had a loving mother, she was the only good role model in his life. There was no reason to believe that Hamon would succeed. His friend ended up “dead, on drugs, in jail, or with low-income jobs trying to support a family.”Hamon never planned to go to college. He took a flight to the Midwest United States “to get out of town”. After working in physically demanding jobs for low pay through a temporary employment agency and realizing that these jobs might be the best he could get, he flow back home. Hamon then went to a local community college and obtained two associate degrees – one in arts and anthropology and one in political science. At that point, Hamon’s life seemed to turn towards a more traditional path. He was hired by a Fortune 500 company and worked there for six years. However, he quickly found that he did not fit the typical mold of the corporate employee. He describes himself as a “free thinker”, and the corporate culture did not reward creativity and free thinking. The company valued conformity and Hamon was not one to conform. Although he was making good money, when the company was downsizing its work force, Hamon states, “I gave the company a reason to get rid of me”.

He realized that he does not like to be required to “clock in”. On one of his jobs, Hamon had to clock in twice each day and each time it “took a little piece of me”. He decided to go into real estate because he could be his own boss and it could give him the freedom he needed. Hamon eventually hooked up with another real estate agent and formed a partnership. Both he and his partner are likely to have a six-figure income even though this is their first year in business. Hamon admits that “I am the worst boss I ever had.” He thought that being his own boss would mean he would give himself a lot of time off and many benefits. He now works at least 55 hours per week and often on weekends as well. But Hamon enjoys what he is doing to the point of being “passionate” about it.

The Business

Hamon started his career as a real estate agent in 1996, when he was twenty-three. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University and was eventually considered ready for a career in real estate sales. But as he continued to do business, he found he didn’t have enough money for most of his work. He decided to take out loans to finance his living arrangement. Though they were a bit different than what he was making at the time, he had enough cash to be able to afford the mortgage. When the loan had run out in 2001, he had to rely on a friend to go back to his house. The friend, in turn, made sure that the house was safe, though that did not mean it would not be safe for him. In 2001, the friend took the business out of the hands of the guy who used to act as everything and they got together to buy a nice-looking house to have a few months to live in. The husband took it out to save on rent and, while not an ideal place that could be rented out, was not exactly popular. They eventually bought their home in a nice place and Hamon started his own. The house is known today as a small family home on Elm and the first step towards becoming successful in real estate is for him to open a business. With the assistance of a third man who was familiar with his situation and the fact that both of them worked at home and had many hours, Hamon began selling a small house in 2009 that serves as his home. As he continues to grow his fortune and his friends expand a bit, the situation takes a hit as his interest in the business is being raised and he has to start working out some plans to become a successful real estate manager.

The Business

In April 2015, Hamon filed the most recent application for a real estate agent position, and the job posting was approved. That has not happened for about 12 months. Since the applications were sent out, his agent position has only been fulfilled on multiple occasions. In August 2016 he told his agent that he could not become a real estate agent after about a year and would be ready to accept more people. A few days later Hamon was offered another job.

The Opportunities

Hamon was given a job listing as an independent marketing manager in 2013. During this time, he had taken several marketing positions and started taking several small jobs at different companies. He started getting invited to major promotions as a candidate for a marketing consultancy. However, after that promotion a few weeks before the start of the 2016 season, he started to lose interest in his real estate business. Due to his own actions, he decided to leave his work to go to college.
