[pic 1][pic 2][pic 3][pic 4]IntroductionThe aim of this paper is to analyze how digitalization will impact the future work, especially the job of controllers. Is digitalization and automation going to cause a cut back in jobs or will it lead to more meaningful purposes of the existing roles?Topic relevanceA recent labour market study shows that digitisation will bring about major upheavals by 2035. Although it will have little impact on the number of jobs, workers will have to adapt to very major upheavals. This is the result of a recent study by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB). “Increasing digitisation will go hand in hand with a significant transformation of the world of work, and in this process the education and continuing training of employees will play a central role,” emphasise the researchers.Above all, digitisation also means automation. Automation is the result of automation, i.e. the use of automatic machines (DIN IEC 60050-351). Automatic machines are artificial systems that automatically follow a program and make decisions for controlling and, if necessary, regulating processes on the basis of the program. The decisions of the system are based on the linkage of inputs with the respective states of a system and result in tasks. Automatically running processes are often carried out according to the control loop principle – i.e. under target-oriented process influence through the feedback of control results. This means that occupations with a high degree of substitutability could be eliminated more easily, since the activities can be automated more easily. According to the study, the occupational segment of “company-related service occupations” is characterized by a particularly high substitutability potential of 69.9 percent. Many services for companies, such as insurance and financial services, accounting and controlling services, could already be provided today by computers. These include above all financial accountants in Germany. Currently, 115,000 accountants are employed in Germany and every year about 4,000 people strive for training for this profession. The tasks of a financial accountant are usually not complex and manageable. His tasks usually include the following:- Processing of the number traffic- Carrying out accounts payable and accounts receivable accounting- the creation of statistics and evaluations- account assignment- Execution of the dunning process- Invoice checks, master data maintenance, postings- Administration of surgery lists- Monitoring of incoming payments.Parallel to the study by IAB and BIBB, KPMG WPG AG published a study on “Digitization in Accounting” in March 2019. The study shows that more and more companies are dealing with Robotic Process Automation (RPA). RPA is an innovative technology for automating structured business processes. RPA works like one of your employees, accesses the user interface of the existing applications and executes structured processes automatically. RPA can be divided into three categories:
