As proof of its commitment to the environment, PT PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan, in its goal of being the leading refineries in Asia continue to improve its environmental management. Most recently, PT Pertamina (Persero) RU VI Balongan is pursuing international standards of ISRS8 (International Sustainability Rating System) level 7-8 which is the average level of the best refineries in the world. ISRS is an international standard relating to the management of security, safety, health, and environmental quality, ranging from process optimization, waste minimization, until work safety to help companies to minimize negative influence of the companys operations on the environment.keywords : management, environment, ISRS8Abstrak : Dewasa ini, isu lingkungan telah menjelma menjadi suatu isu primer bagi perusahaan-perusahaan dalam pencapaian pembangunan berkelanjutan. Sebagai bukti komitmen kepada lingkungan, PT PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan, dalam cita-citanya menjadi kilang terkemuka di Asia terus meningkatkan manajemen lingkungannya. Yang terbaru, PT PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan sedang mengejar standar internasional ISRS8 (International Sustainability Rating System) level 7-8 yang menjadi level rata-rata kilang-kilang terbaik di dunia. ISRS merupakan sebuah standar internasional yang berkaitan dengan pengelolaan kemananan, keselamatan, kesehatan, dan kualitas lingkungan, mulai dari optimalisasi proses, minimasi limbah, hingga keseamatan kerja untuk membantu meminimalisr pengaruh negatif kegiatan operasional perusahaan terhadap lingkungan.kata kunci : manajemen, lingkungan, ISRS8INTRODUCTION Management of oil and gas in Indonesia is done with the responsibility of both government and private parties, from domestically and abroad. PT Pertamina (Persero) is a company operating the oil and gas coming from the government sector (National Oil Company). PT PERTAMINA has both exploration and exploitation refineries and processing refinery units scattered throughout the country. one of which is the RU VI, namely PT PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan. PT PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan is the sixth of seven refineries of Processing Directorate of PT PERTAMINA (Persero) with its principal business activity is to process crude oil (Crude Oil) into oil products (fuel oil), non-fuel and Petrochemicals. RU VI Balongan started its operation since 1994 and it is located in Indramayu (West Java) around ± 200 km east of Jakarta, with operations in Balongan, Mundu and Salam Darma. The treated raw unit that is processed in the refinery RU VI Balongan is coming from Duri crude oil and Minas who came from Riau province.
In line with the demands of the business forward, PT PERTAMINA RU VI Balongan continue to develop the potential of businesses through the application of new technologies, development of new competitive products, and eco-friendly commitment in order to reach sustainable development. In order to fulfill this commitment, PT PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan continue to pursue a variety of international standards, the latest one is ISRS (International Sustainibility Rating System) which kick-off application has been started from 2015. ISRS is a global scale system used to assess, improve, and demonstrate businesses sustainability. ISRS ensures the business owners and its stakeholders that the business operation is safe and sustain. This is done to fulfill the requirements and satisfaction of government, customers, workers, and generally to communities in terms of safety and sustainability of the company. If it is compared in real life, ISRS is a cameramen and the company is considered as the model. ISRS will take snapshots of whole company and shows the photos to the company. ISRS will show what is wrong so that the company can determine what can be improved. ISRS will also provide insights and advices to the company so there will be a continual improvement in the future. Unlike the other international standards such as ISO, OHSAS, etc., ISRS provide suggestions and inputs for companies, not only major and minor findings. It is because ISRSs consultant team consists of various experts start from engineer, chemical expert, management expert, etc. Because it contains the integration with various international standards, assessment process of ISRS will also automatically very helpful for companies to reach the better level in other standards that they follow for the sake of added value for companies business such as ISO 14001, ISO 9001 , OHSAS 18001, and variety of other standards.EXISTING CONDITION PT PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan already have ISRS8 management system implementation team that is directly responsible to all ISRS8 processes implementation with current standards based on the latest audit that was done in 2014. This was stated in the Appendix of Warrant that issued by General Manager of PT PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan about the Impementation Team/champion that have specific function as required by ISRS8. In the final assessment (2014), PT PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan able to reach level 5. As part of quality improvement, PT Pertamina (Persero) RU VI Balongan is pursuing a level of 7-8 which is the average level of top oil and gas companies.[pic 3]ISRS8 REVIEW RESULTS AND GAP ANALYSIS TO REACH CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENTLeadership Family (Leadership, Planning & Administration, and Results & Review) PT PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan has own a good leadership and planning values. This is shown by values stated in companys Notarial Deed. These values have been identified by the company and included in the Companys Long Term Plan. Due to the nature of the company, many of these plans are based on projected refinery / production, which then affect the budget of RU VI, and adequate in identifying the resources required to run a business. This shows the intention of the leadership of the company to instill the value of not just fleeting, but a continuous process of planting on all elements of the company.
