1978: Creation of the Renault Vehicules Industriels company, by the merger of BERLIET and SAVIEM. The only french manufacturer of heavy duty trucks is a daughter company of Renault S.A.
1990: The American truck brand Mack definitively joins the group renault V.I. (sales relation since 1978).
2001: The Group Renault V.I. is taken over by AB Volvo. Renault V.I. is compelled by EC regulation to sell its 50% shares in Irisbus (joint-veture with Iveco created in 1998).
2002: The international company name Renault Trucks is adopted.
