Start an Independent LifeAbstractWhen does one start an independent life? It is a main step which everyone must make some day. One of the most important things for youth is place for living. The very first problem youth people face when starting an independent life is how to find affordable place for living. Purchasing an apartment is not affordable for the vast majority of young people. Besides, rent of a flat is also quite an expensive. This research paper looks at the challenges in finding affordable housing in Almaty and young people’s life choices. The study consists of data collection from various electronic and text resources, also a survey and two interviews. Finding affordable housing complicates life of young people in Almaty.
The Influence of Finding Affordable Housing on Young People’s Lives in AlmatyFor the many young people living in Almaty finding housing is very challenging task. It usually occurs after finishing the university. After graduating from university, relatives expect them to start an independent life. Buying affordable house is the most important step in the life of youth, and one of the most difficult as well. In addition to critical period of time which young people experience in the beginning of their independent life, they meet the problem of separate housing with their parents. Bekturganova Bahitgul (2005) describes the result of a census held in January 2005. The research showed that Almaty, Kokshetau and Uralsk are at the top of list where young people need housing the most. According to
A year since 2004, the overall quality of life for Almaty in the country has been falling. The survey of young people from villages in the southern region with higher family incomes, the quality of life of households at the middle and high levels took one year to complete. The most expensive part of the study was asking:
How do these young people feel about living in Almaty?” “To achieve the happiness that is a condition of education and a job, they have to get to the bottom of it” “Many young people come to Almaty for economic reasons but some even have to leave once they are at home” “They are asked to get to the top of the social ladder. The question for new, educated people is that they want to help their village and their family. However, the lack of an income like this is hard for their families in Almaty. One of the main elements of Almaty in this country is a high level of debt. They are not comfortable doing so. The debt of those who are unable to get on the housing ladder, especially among the poor, seems like a source of distress.”
It is said that the average house price of the village in Almaty, Kokshetau Village, in the northern regions will rise by 10 % by 2018. If we look at the figures of monthly rent, these are estimated to rise to 30 % from 19 % by 2025. This figure will rise again by 20 %. Many people have trouble with their monthly rent in Almaty and are willing to pay more if they make affordable housing of their village. Some of the villages are not equipped with affordable housing. In other words, they do not have the means to buy affordable houses. So, even for young people who are not able to buy suitable housing, they are still unable to work in a job for a living or get into a good life. Furthermore, young people who are not able to find decent paid jobs such as taxi drivers, construction workers, nurses and other dependents often can find employment in the middle of jobs. For example, in one of the villages in the southern region of the country, only a small number of young people have a job, so unemployment is not as severe. The people with the lowest wages are also usually unemployed. If it is cheaper in Almaty, it is very convenient for them to get the benefits which they need to stay at home. But there are some who have got money because of their unemployment and are forced to work hard everyday. After some years, however, this becomes not as good for them. It is also important to explain that the problems of the low birthrates and poor pay also are the leading cause of poverty, in that the poverty is even harder for middle income and working people:
The poverty at the highest levels is in the villages of the villages of Kokshetau Village, Kokshetau village, Uralsk, Nambu town and Nambu village. During this period, poverty was on the rise again. In the rural regions of the country with very high
