Literary Self-Analyses: DarkIn the ballad “Dark” there are many elements that make the poem unique. In the first stanza, it portrays that the speaker is lonely and in a depressed mood. The speaker is yearning to go home becausehe could miss his family or something special is happening. With the imagery used in the stanza, you can picture someone on a cloudy day just sitting on a park bench, depressed with nowhere to go. In the laststanza, when the speaker is returning to his home, the dog is a symbol of his welcoming home. The first line and the last are the exact same, and this changes the way the poem is now, because the speaker goes from talking about the weather to being dead. This is also a reason the poem is entitled “Dark”, dark is a reoccurring theme in the poem. Lastly, the rhyme scheme, every other line rhymes, except for the last stanza.The rhyme skips a line, to show that the speaker has been broken and to leave the reader thinking. This poem conveys its meaning very well, with the poetic elements it contains, all the way to its structure and hidden meaning. Literary Self-Analyses: To You        In ode “To You” there are many elements that contribute to makingthe poem stand out. There is an abundance of poetic elements that create an excellent idea of “You”. In the first stanza, it talks about someone who is thought highly of, almost like this person is perfect. Saying that this person has never hurt the author, has always been there, and makes the day better for the author. The repetition of the words “To you” helps get the point across to the reader.
