As an employee they owe their job a certain amount of loyalty and if the image of the company is ruined then their job is at risk. If the owner of the company can find something on the employees social accounts it can inform them if this person is a good candidate to be hired. The history of an employee is very important because anything that can jeopardize the companys reputation is to be noted and avoided.
When a company is booming outsiders may seek to find any type of information about the company that will result into a downfall of the company. Not as many people want to be the one being sued in a lawsuit. Its bad for business , you lose money, you dont get a positive look and not to many people would want to be in business with that company that is being sued. Its very common for people to post whats happening in their everyday life whether it be about their children, spouse, parents or boss which isnt a good idea for what is posted can be used against the company that they work for in a lawsuit because what they have posted is now all over the internet.
