On What Principles(s) Would You Make a Decision in This Case, and What Would Your Sentence Be?
On what principles(s) would you make a decision in this case, and what would your sentence be?
I would have to agree with the prison sentencing that was handed down not only because its right but thats something he should have been thinking about before he did the crime. From the way it looked he wasnt thinking about the cancer during his acts. The fat that he had cancer and only 6 months to live i would have handed him the 5 years in prison but delayed it for 6 months to show a little mercy on the man. Now if he didnt make the six months then unfortunately he would end up in prison.
You are a smoker living in Maine. Is it morally permissible to enact such a law?
I dont think as a smoker its right to enact such a law. But in the end if the people cant put the cigarette butt in the right place then why not think of a way to get them to keep them off the ground with getting a few cents to keep the streets clean. So as a smoker it would be ok to do it because im only one person.
How does your argument change if you are a nonsmoker?
My argument is still the same. Smokers need to learn the hard way. If charging extra to keep the butts off the ground then do it.
Is it morally permissible to execute a murderer if he truly is remorseful and apologizes for his actions?
Question of ethics and beliefs. I think its ok if the family of the victim agree to spare his or her life after unless this was a persons way of life. So people get caught after killing more then one.
