My name is Jenna DePetrillo. I am 21 years young and recently moved to Florida 9 months ago. I found out I was pregnant March 1st, 2016 and planned to move to Florida immediately to finish nursing school and live near my mother for she can watch my son. The RN program in the south is much cheaper than up north and in most cases a lot shorter. Over all, I moved here to better my life for my son and I. All throughout high school I was on honor role and graduate with a 3.87 GPA. Although I went through a rough time in my life I am the type of person that actually and genuinely loves school. In the summer my sophomore year, so going into my junior year, at age 16 I became a CNA. One of the best decisions of my life, If I made enough money to support a family and live comfortably I would be a CNA for the rest of my life. I have always been one to stop and help people being from needing a bandaid all the way from driving home and witnessing a car accident and preforming CPR on the driver. In my opinion I was just born to be in the medical field. I have never questioned or wanted to be anything else other than a RN. My overall goal after I graduate from the RN program, is to then get my BSN online at the same time get a job in a level 1 trauma center or emergency room, following with my masters. Finally, in the end of everything I would like to go back to be a Nurse Practitioner and stop there all the while staying in a hospital setting. I like to be on my feet not knowing what to expect. With that being said a doctors office is just not my style. The program I am in now is a associates degree program so I will be graduating in December of 2018 and from there I can schedule my NCLEX (nursing boards) and as long as I pass that, which I have no doubt in my mind that I will, then I am officially a RN. Although I walk the stage in December, as long as I get what is called the “green light” at the end of the last semester of the program then my DON will give me a certificate of completion so that I can schedule my NCLEX as soon as possible. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait to take the state boards because thats just how it is when you are working with any type of state testing for whatever reason. There is 6 semesters in the programs and each is 4 months long totaling 24 months all together. As previously stated, I was born to be a nurse I could cry just thinking about the day I can actually write
