Gandhi His Great Reign
“We will not strike a blow, but we will receive them.”
Not many leaders throughout history thought like this, let alone actually followed through with the idea of none violence. Although some did, Gandhi was passionate about none violence. He was so passionate that he put his life at risk for the cause. Gandhi did things different, which probably gave him more credibly because no one knew what was next because it wasnt done before was.
Through history many leaders agreed that non-violence would be the best way to solve problems, but they didnt know what the outcome would be so they fought fire with fire. On the other hand Gandhi believed non-violence was best, and he stood behind it. As seen in the above paragraph the quote, “we will not strike a blow, but we will receive them.”
Mohandas Gandhi used civil disobedience to make sure that all they did was”Ð receiving blowsД and not give them. The fact Gandhi was strong enough to accept blows and not give them shows a lot about his character and the content of him.
Gandhi fasted many times for peace. He put his life at risk just so his people would stop being violence. The Indian people cared so much and had so much and had so much respect for Gandhi that they stopped so he wouldnt die. Everyone didnt stop at once; Gandhi began to get weak and fragile before most people stopped. Gandhi feared a non peaceful life more then he feared death.
All in all, Gandhi was a great man. His power came from his on going mental strength, will to succeed and his restraint against violence. He was even a role model for some of Americas great leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King. Gandhi would make a good role model for any one especially a person who is or wants to be passionate about peace.
