Jim Carrey is an extremely talent and well known actor, although not many fans know his story. He was the youngest of four children and when his father lost his job, everybody in the family had to get jobs, including him. He worked eight hour shifts after school was dismissed just to keep his family on their feet. With such a rough life, he had to keep himself laughing constantly, which is where he discovered his talent for comedy and celebrity impressions. He dropped out of high school in order to practice his talent and made his debut in Toronto, after which he moved to Los Angeles where his career took off. If he hadnt of had a difficult life he may have never discovered his true talent. He would still be able to do impressions and make people laugh, but he would have never been truly motivated enough to go out in front of a live audience just to make money. He succeeded in life and beat the odds, and now hes a famous, wealthy comedian and actor.
Jeannette Walls, author of The Glass Castle, was not wealthy at all when she was a child. She and her family were often moving from town to town with barely any money or places to sleep. Walls grew up as a successful journalist and writer, which she may have never found those talents had she had an easy life. With her harsh life came her desire to work hard and do well in school, which eventually got her into an Ivy League college, Barnard College. Because her parents cared for her so little, her biggest desire was to get away from them and go the New York with her sister. She worked as hard as she could to get scholarships and work for money so she could get a college education, but she would have never realized her talents if she had an easy life and could buy her way into a relatively good college. Because of her difficult life, she discovered her talents for writing and even made much of her money from her recount of her terrible childhood.
Both Walls and Carrey went through hardships as children, but both were able to overcome it and prove the world wrong by being famous. Walls would have never discovered her love for writing, and Carrey wouldnt have known about his uncanny talent with humor, and the world would be without two amazing people and with two everyday citizens.
