Scope of the Project:
The scope of the research is limited to Pune city and is to study the awareness of Navigation system and Features offered in Commercial Vehicles and identify its rating as per its importance to the user. For this the responses of truck drivers who has driving experience of Highways, Tankers, Tippers, Agricultural perishable goods, Construction and sand transport trucks were collected. The Transport companies in Pune city were visited and information about their awareness was collected.

The quality of the research depends, among other things, upon the suitability of the method selected for it. Hence, care should be taken in selecting the appropriate method of research for any project. There are basically three types of research of which the researcher felt that the Descriptive Research was appropriate for this research. Making a census study of the entire universe will be impossible on the account of limitations of time, resources and money. Hence sampling becomes inevitable. A sample is only a proportion of the Universe of population.

Universe under Study:
The sample universe under study was Truck Drivers and Transport companies in Pune.
Sample Frame:
The sample frame for this project is the Truck drivers who has driving experience of Highways, Tankers, Tippers, Agricultural perishable goods, Construction and sand transport trucks.
Sample Size:
The sample size used in this research project comprises of 150 Truck drivers and 15 Transport companies in Pune.
Sampling Technique:
The sampling Technique used was Convenience Non-Probability Sampling.
Data Collection Method:
Primary Research:
A structured questionnaire was used in which questions about the driving pattern during day and night travelling, Personal medical history, awareness about navigation system and government norms, awareness and importance of safety features was asked. The information is thus gathered by visualizing, recording and interviewing the primary source.
Among all the safety features available worldwide, we decided to study only 24 features such as Power steering, ABS, Airbags, Driver drowsiness alert, Electronic rear view mirror, Theft Detection etc. These safety features are a mix of Passive and active safety components.
Secondary Research:
The secondary source helps us to obtain information from past records. The secondary research involves gathering of information from annual reports, thesis, records, magazines, etc. The Sources for Secondary research were as following:
