Jacobsons report should include the certain key information to fix training mistakes. The company trained their sales force on the new services offered but did not execute it successfully. The sales force is having a rough time introducing the new line of value added services and there are many reasons for it. The company did not give the sales force a follow up after their initial training of the new services; as a result issues were not addressed, questions and inquiries after the training were not addressed and the information provided was not fully retained by the sales representatives. The training did not prepare the sales force how to tackle the competition; therefore the sales force lacks the ability to successfully explain what sets On-Time Package Delivery ahead of their competitors. OTPD did not successfully communicate important changes to formatting of paper work to the sales staff, an email clearly was not enough to enforce these changes, this caused for problems and delays in orders.
On-Time Package Delivering needs to re-address the sales force, they need to enforce a follow up on all the previous training. Key information was provided to the staff, but the mistake was made when the sales force was not tested on their comprehension and ability to practice the changes made. The sales force has already proven to be capable of gaining and obtaining clients, but because new information was provided to the sales force and changes were made to the services provided, the sales force must practice these changes, provide feedback and get answers to any questions or doubts that might come up upon implementing the knowledge they gained.
Competitors seem to be one step ahead of OTPD; the sales force appears to be intimidated and unprepared to face the competition. If the sales force lacks the ability to set OTPD aside from competitors, sales will be lost and clients will switch companies, the sales force needs to receive more training
