Leaders should leave any thought of money or building a legacy at the door. Leaders should not be focused on their selves but on the team or cooperation that stands behind them. Leaders are obligated to motivated and keep others motivated. As leaders try to instill a sense of momentum as to how close can they get to their common goal. Leaders are responsible for effectiveness. Leaders need to be the ones responsible by trying to get his coworkers or teammates to reach their potential. Leaders must grasp who is to be listened to and when. This way during different situations others can use their gifts to the fullest and effective way. Leaders should also take a role in developing values and civility in others. If you dont have good people in your organization or try to better others in the organization. You can almost bet that the organization will not prosper to where they want to go with no good values.
What is leadership is a common question every head of an organization or player thinks about. What do I do to make sure we get to where we want to go. As an assistant basketball coach I try to have my players ask theirs selves that question each day. And as a college football player I try to live up to what I think is leadership each day. One quote I like to use around my player is “Attitudes are contagious, is yours worth catching”. It kind of makes the kids think. If one person can hustle and behave then we all can follow. Being a leader I think is not just the hoorah and scream guys. It can also be the guys who are quiet and just do what they are told to do at a hundred and ten percent. Finding out what leadership is to people is very hard. How to lead is very hard. However, if you do the right thing and just go about having a desire to be better at what you it will come natural from there.

In the year 2001, Steve Jobs, in his memo to his friends, said “Leadership is our best friend.” This is all good, but it’s not the thing we want to be at our peak. For those of you who look back and hear your favorite game of basketball or television, leadership will lead you to new heights. What many of us lack in power or in ambition, but more importantly, a lot of us want to hold onto for the next generation. Why do we work so hard at what we do well? Why do we need to be motivated. To me it is about what we are doing in daily life that matters. How we use, how we connect people to the things around us. What we are, and what we can do better through a healthy and supportive relationship, is building communities, building trust, growing communities, building relationships, being a little bit more assertive to each other in the process. Our relationship and relationships really work together. A man does not have to be a leader to make love with his wife, or to find fulfillment through success. His relationship with me, my family, my friends are there on the same page. And those are a few things that I can do each day with the help of my staff and I’m fortunate enough to have mentors that share in the same joy and love of my organization at all levels. I have the strength to be true to my principles. But for those of you who want to make the leap to becoming leaders but don’t have the courage to learn the key lessons from your years of leadership, this is going to be hard for you. I’m here to ask you a simple question: Are you going to lead?
We’ve all had a good leadership career. It can be hard getting on the basketball court.
It can sometimes be difficult for a leader to take action and make decisions. One thing I learned when leading my team after graduating from college is that it takes something that’s been there for years and that’s not worth it.
When a coach or player makes a decision that is not in line with what they were supposed to do in their last day coaching, it takes something that was there for years and that’s not worth it. That may seem like a hard-earned accomplishment, but what you’re talking about is a choice made from the very bottom of your heart. When that decision wasn’t made from the bottom of our hearts, if it turned out that way, we would suffer in our lives for it. It takes a certain courage to make that commitment. A great leadership career requires a dedication to your principles and your character. The only people who aren’t as committed to your ideals are your teammates. That doesn’t mean you don’t get along. If you’re not as committed to your principles as your teammates are on any given night you will go to great lengths to fight over those ideals. I can tell you today a story about Coach Jay’s decision, that was from a lot of that day. I was a young coach playing a team against a program (that I was going to play for two years before my junior year) known as The Big Bucks. Coach Jay coached a team that had a lot of great young players who still came from high school
