When it comes to candidates in the 2008 presidential election, Senator Barack Obama is at the top of my list. Barack Hussein Obama was born August 4, 1961, and is the junior United States Senator from Illinois and a candidate for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 presidential election. He is the fifth African American Senator in U.S. history, and the only African American currently serving in the U.S. Senate. Senator Obama was born to a white American mother and a black Kenyan father, Obama grew up in culturally diverse surroundings. He lived for most of his childhood in the majority-minority U.S. state of Hawaii and spent four of his pre-teen years in the multi-ethnic Indonesian capital city of Jakarta. Senator Obama is the candidate that, to me, braches out to even the republican party for an equal goal and so that they are on equal grounds. In May 2007, he became the first presidential candidate to be newly assigned Secret Service protection more than 18 months before a general election. If elected, Obama would become the first black U.S. president. Being that he is an African- American man, I believe this itself is Baracks biggest challenge in winning votes. He has never really had any scandals concerning his name. One of the positives in his character is that he is a fairly flexible man, and does not solemnly focus on nationwide issues but also on those around the world. Senator Obamas political profile would be a hard core liberal. That would be on the left hand side of the political spectrum. One of the reasons that I support Barack Obama so much is because he takes note of the issues within our country and also those around the world. He is a man that wants the better of humanity. Also, in a lot of the issues that are brought into question, he is always ready to answer for the future which would be the children. When it comes to health care, environment, public education, and family issue, he always reminds us that the children are our future and that we must look out for them. On the role of government in economic affairs, Obama has written: “We should be asking ourselves what mix of policies will lead to a dynamic free market and widespread economic
