Same Sex Marriage ReligionJoin now to read essay Same Sex Marriage ReligionâWhy is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?â For decades and decades and still even in the present, the term âmarriageâ has been only a heterosexual term through legislation and most religions. The federal government has not done anything to stop it. Liberals have been accused of making false statements while the U.S. has consistently opposed the laws.
Conservative MP Peter Kent has already said: “I think that’s too easy, too easy.” The government will not stand by when all that time â and taxpayers’ money â is wasted by the U.S. government.
As the news of the case drew closer, a question arose about the validity of it. In the statement from Kent that came in, his colleague Tim Kline said, “We are asking the government to act to ensure that any bill that is passed can not, or will not, be affected by it and should not be subject to debate with the federal government. The federal government was involved in the legislation that changed it and we’re very much looking forward to taking that responsibility to the federal government, to the Canadian government and to the rest of the world.”
Kline said, “We are aware of the potential that legislation might be affected and there will be no comment from [that] person.”
Same sex marriage is in a different category. There has been a legal battle over its legality, in the House of Commons last week. Both sides were led by David Willem, who has advocated for the legalization of unions in Canada, but who later said that same sex marriage was neither legal nor constitutional.
“First, it seems the case has been decided,” Peter Kent said. “Then it became difficult for those advocating for it to argue that its right to marry was not infringed or that it was not a matter of personal choice. I think that’s very confusing and very dangerous.”
A spokesman for the House of Commons Standing Committee on Social Justice said they don’t find the issue “silly,” but said, “our policy strongly indicates there is no real need to put it on the table right now.”
In an interview earlier this year, U.S. senator Rob Portman said same sex marriage should not be considered a crime but was a private matter and a government decision that the government could reach out to the U.S. Legislature to see if similar laws are in place. No further comment was heard during the meeting.
While some are concerned that the government has ignored the fact that there is such an issue to deal with. “I think there’s a great deal of frustration within the opposition parties,” said Andrew Wright, professor Emeritus at the University of Waterloo in Canada’s Department of Law. “There’s a lot of support within the social justice community, but not necessarily with respect to same-sex marriage. If there is, that’s important. And certainly as far as the government is concerned, as per the constitution, the Bill should not be used as a public resource. It’s just to ensure that it’s properly written and it can be read a little bit in such a way that there’s not confusion.”

People are now stepping up and fighting against this, they believe that homosexuals should have the same rights as a heterosexual. As of right now December, 11, 2006 same sex marriage is legal in all of Canada, and in some states. However it is still not accepted in all of Canada, and it is most definitely not legal everywhere. This essay will explain religious, social and legal reasons to why same sex marriage should be accepted and legal everywhere.
Religion is a very traditional thing especially Catholicism, members of this group follow the bible which has been written decades ago. There are many things that this certain religion does not agree with in our society, for example abortion, contraceptives, and divorce. All three of these things are legal in Canada and the U.S. despite the fact that some religions are against it. By this being said, the bible has absolutely no standing on Canadian or American law. No one has the right to impose rules on anyone else, simply because of something they perceive to be a moral injunction mandated by the Bible. Also not everyone in the world follows the same religion, many religions such
