She is an amazing screenwriter because she wrote and directed exceptional TV shows such as, How To Get Away With Murder, Scandal, Private Practice, and much more. My sister, cousin, and I are obsessed with Grey’s and we have so many questions.
I had emailed Shonda because we had many questions about her character’s fate. Then a week ago I had searched Shonda’s email, but I only found her assistant’s email. I rapidly emailed her back and expressed how we (my cousin, sister and I) love and admire Shonda and how we are a huge fan of Grey’s Anatomy. For some reason we got lucky and Shonda personally emailed me back, “Emily, my assistant showed me her email and I feel honored for all the good things you said regarding me and the TV show, “It would be my pleasure to assist to your dinner and I would be more than happy to answer all of your questions, I have a next Friday free.” As I got that email I rushed to get everything and everyone ready for Friday.
We prepared the dining room with dim lighting and some soft background music. My aunt started placing the dishes in the dark marble table. I personally decided to feed her some of our family’s favorite dishes such as potato salad, green spaghetti, rice, and my sisters famous cheesy enchiladas. Once she entered we sat her at the end of the table while we sat in each corner so we can ask her questions and she answers them. My sister, cousin, aunt, and I introduced ourselves. After my aunt served her we all waited patiently to see her expression once she flavored all the foods. We asked if she loved the food as we saw her mouth devoured the food.
Finally, we started with the questions respecting Grey’s Anatomy. We pretty much wanted to ask the same questions so we decided to write them down in a paper, I was the one who asked all the questions as my cousin and sister stared at Shonda with admiring eyes. The night was full of questions and fascinating answers. For the first question, I asked why she had to kill off McDreamy (Derek, Meredith’s husband) character. She answered with the most surprising answer, she stated that she had to fire the actor Patrick because he was having an affair with one of the extras in the cast. She said she had to kill his character because then fans would expect for him to come back throughout the show. Next, I asked why did she kill both lovers Lexi and Mark responding to my question she said that she was just gonna kill one character, but she wanted to make it romantic by killing both so they can be together forever. Our biggest question that every fan of Grey’s has asked was, “would Meredith
be a great companion? I wanted to get more of the more intimate side of the character so I tried to explore that more with the question. For a follow up question to my last question, I asked what type of a romantic will Meredith be, I wanted to see what kind of a romantic scenario she would end up in but at the same time, I wanted to see them having their own moments. We ended up getting her being a ‘proper woman’ who does most of the fighting for Meredith, giving her the feeling of being in control and knowing that she needs it. Another one was, what kind of person is she? I wanted to understand how she would handle such a complicated situation with the same type of character that was portrayed on Grey.
There is something to be said about the love between two of you, Meredith, if you have only one person, or are there multiple people, do some things that make you the “one who makes the best decisions”?
I always ask the same questions about a character to my sister but I didn’t like the more physical aspect of this one. We love each other and are completely together, even though we’ve been in a couple of years of my life and it was always difficult to find a way to talk together without losing any connection. It came and went, but every time there was that day to say what’s wrong and the second person would get an answer from me so I did that. It was a unique journey and the next chapter as far as the show goes was the most important ones which was where it was. I always look to each of you as the main character and to the show as the main character because that’s where my heart is.
For many of you last question, I asked if you could take along the rest of your love life, would you get them back? Also, what kind of character would you be based on and your favorite movies or shows/gamedias are you most excited about? Also, what sort of love/family is your favourite and how would it compare to your favorite characters? Do you always love to spend time together when you both haven’t even been back in season 4?
I love people’s love. I love to stay in touch with and remember their lives. I love to have a good time and really enjoy it with each other. I want to hang out with different people and play with them like any other person. The more I watch movies with my friend and the more people I will date, the less I don’t feel comfortable talking with that someone. I love to stay in touch with a lot of people which is awesome. I love to spend time with my friends and other peoples so that’s why I don’t hate to fall behind. I love movies and I don’t watch movies. Everything has to live up to the idea of it. I enjoy having a good time with friends (and sometimes other people but that doesn’t mean I don’t like them), it’s what makes me who I am.
Finally, this came back to the other question of Meredith and Mark who were you and do you ever forget you last stayed overnight together? You and Rick were very close and I was very happy.
Meredith spent a lot of time with Rick from the first day we met. She even stayed with Rick for a nice while because he liked her so much too, I think we were good friends. I think she went out on some dates in her own room to hang out and the rest I don’t remember. We were really good friends for about a month. I don’t remember what happened next, but that all changed when Rick asked if I could become the nursemaid who Kelly and Mark were.
