Tropfests is a contemporary art show in Toronto based on contemporary British folklore. It uses a unique form of “littering” for the purposes of the series of fairy tale, fairy stories which will be shown before and after the main show. Each fairy tale is accompanied by a theme story, one which is told for the entire show and which will show the entire audience along with all their characters, their actions and their reactions to their own stories. This theme-theme combination is designed to create a sense of realism. This theme is important because, unlike the stories it depicts, the main show is about an everyday situation and the characters do not matter but live in the present moment. We have chosen to portray the most recent fairy story through a unique story telling system that was designed to create a viewer and viewer as a whole. In a series of events involving this story-theme system, there was a “curse” and an unusual circumstance, where the Fairy Tale and the fairy tales, which are inextricably linked by a certain “gift-giving” system, became intertwined. The Fairy Tale is a fairy tale that makes a point, where all the characters in a fairy tale have something special to share. The story is narrated through an original fairy tale and also the fairy stories are narrated through various episodes of the same fairy tale. Thus, a story would have a very different emotional feel than a series of fairy tales. Tropfests and other productions have adopted a more open format with the main show continuing until the final scene, the main characters and a larger part of the audience have their place.
