Only a couple of months ago all medias focus was directed towards late active shooting events killing many innocent people.
A significant active shooter incident occurred at a shopping center in Portland, Oregon on Tuesday 12/11/12 and a few days later more than two dozen people, mostly elementary school children, were shot and killed at a Newtown, Conn., elementary school this morning, federal and state sources tell ABC News. Since then, more incidents of such characteristics occurred in the U.S., while even these moments the entire police department in the West Coast is looking for a former LAPD Officer (Christopher Jordan Dorner) who is wanted in a recent rash of shootings in Southern California. These shootings have already resulted in 3 deaths, and injuries. Christopher Dorner is considered armed and dangerous and is obviously no longer working for the authorities or deployed with the army forces.
Although these unfortunate incidents were an isolated occurrence, it brought upon excessive media coverage and public knowledge of the incident in which the public may seek reassurance to their safety while visiting shopping centers, sending their children to schools and just performing their daily activities especially during this time of year.
President Barack Obama, as a result of the above mentioned and in order to take a proactive decision, unveiled a sweeping plan to reduce gun violence on that would require criminal background checks for all gun sales and a ban on military-style assault weapons. According to details of the plan released by the White House, he would also toughen laws aimed at reducing gun trafficking (Jeff Mason and Steve Holland).
The founder and national coordinator of the “Guns Across America” rallies, Eric Reed, was interviewed to WND last month. Mr. Reed emphasized how irritated he was about the new “Gun-Control” regulation that the federal government is trying to pass and implement. Reed continued and suggested that such a step might become a brutal violation of the Americans Second Amendments rights. When asked how far he was willing to go with his argument, the Texan resident replied: “I was trying to figure out why people werent being more proactive about this. Then I realized Im part of the problem. It takes somebody to stand up and say, Hey, were not going to accept this. Were against it. We want Americans who feel the same way to come out. We want to stand up, be united and get our point across.”
Competitive Strategies and Government Policies involved with this major federal concern have become more of a common discussion topic among states and population around the U.S. between people who carry guns for self-defense as well as between gun sellers and gun fans.
