Transcript of Sink or SWIM Case Study
The Sloan Women in Management organization was created to be an inviting and supportive group for all Sloan women. The purpose of this group is to advance the careers of current female Sloan students, work with faculty, administrators, and the greater business community to increase opportunities for women in business.
Sink or SWIM
The organization has been rapidly growing since it was established in the 1980s. The annual conference has become the largest event within SWIM, despite starting only two years before. Sloan Women in Management organized their third annual conference, “Dare to Fail: Taking Risks When It Matters Most”. This organized event was vital to objectively taking SWIM off the ground. Their conference sold over 350 tickets and sponsorship funds totaled to 38,000. Everything had been planned accordingly, the only problem was the snow storm about to hit Boston. This ends up being the main problem in this case study.
