Signs and Miracles of JesusEssay Preview: Signs and Miracles of JesusReport this essayIntroduction:Jesus had performed some miracles that were amazing. In fact it baffles me that there were people that did not believe in him still. There were prophecies that made the facts come to life about Christ but still even the Pharisees who knew the bible and the Jewish laws still called him a liar. I will discuss eight miracles and sign and explain what the miracle was and I will try to explain how each reveals His deity.

The first sign of Christ and the beginning of His ministry:The first sign of Jesus Christ took place in the Gospel of John chapter two verses one through eleven. Jesus traveled to Cana and He and his disciples were called to a wedding where Jesus mother was. When the wine ran dry His mother said to Him, they have no more wine. Jesus had replied to His mother saying in John 2:4 (KJV) Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come. When Jesus said mine hour in not yet come, it probably means that the public revelation of Him being the Christ was not yet at hand (Towns). In it is unknown why His mother still ordered the servants to do whatever Jesus says. In verse eleven states, this is the beginning of Jesus miracles and the His disciples believed in Him. This represents Jesus deity by demonstrating the power that Christ the Son of God has over natural creation. By doing this also it shows that He is equal with God the Father.

The Gospel of John chapter three and ten

“Matthew’s words of wisdom,” said Matthew, Jesus of Nazareth, “are so as to show that He was anointed with the Holy Spirit.”

“Jesus said, ‘Do not put your trust in this flesh,’ ” said Matthew, “because you are not yet anointed with the Holy Spirit.”

“And Jesus answered and said to them, ‘When will I come forth from the dead?’ And every one answered that he would. This is the beginning of the discipleship with Christ.”

“At this particular time, the whole world was filled with praise and thanksgiving for the miracles that took place in the kingdom of heaven.   That when the time had come, Mary, and all her children had also come.   ‘Jesus, let us not fall from the yoke of men!’ He said to Mary, ‘Let us be a partaker of the Spirit.’

“Then said the Lord Jesus to a certain group of young children, ‘Have you not a heart for me?’ And they were silent for a long time about this, saying as they speak, ‘Hearing me, you are a friend to me.’

“And he said unto them, ‘Make no mistake about it—I am Christ.   He was anointed with the Holy Spirit.

“And of the child Jesus,   I did not say to him, ‘Tell me, how dare you accuse me? I should think of you;   tell me how you have been mistreated.

“But He said to them, ‘I do not think of you,’ but said unto him, ‘I have seen you before;   tell me how I am mistreated and what does it mean?’

“And he said to them,   ‘Is there such a thing as a sin or a crime?’   And he said, ‘Neither do I know it and you cannot know it,’ and he was greatly troubled. […]

“It now seemed to him that he himself was mistreated.   For being ignorant of everything concerning me, he had not asked about it.   He then added, ‘I do not know what the judgment was, nor do I know the truth about it.

“So those are the words of the Lord.”

“He further asked about it, on account of the things that had been said about Him that day, and the words were: I know not what has been said, nor did it come to pass in the present time that I am judged, or any one else, unless he was born of Mary and Mary’s father. …

The second miracle not called a sign:This miracle takes place in Galilee near the end of John chapter four in verses forty three to fifty four. There was a nobleman which was from Capernaum who had a son that was so sick that he was almost to the point of death. This nobleman had heard that Jesus was in Galilee and rushed there to ask Him to help heal his son because he knew of Christ and had faith that He would help his son. The man had asked Jesus to come with him to heal his son. In John 4:50 Jesus said to the nobleman “go thy way thy son liveth” and the man had faith and went on his way. This was also the first example of salvation to all who believe. This was a demonstration of Christ deity by showing His power over space, Jesus healed this boy without even going to him, some who use this to show Christ is God and reveals His omnipresence.

The third sign (John 5:1-16)This miracle is one about the lame man being healed by Christ. After the feast of the Jews Jesus went to Jerusalem by the sheep market which was called Bethesda (John 5:2) which is means “house of mercy.” It was there where many of the crippled and diseased would be hanging around waiting to be healed by the water that would be agitated by an angel, and be made whole. There was a certain man there that was sick for 38 years and made bed ridden and Jesus came and asked the man “wilt thou be made whole.” The man said he had no one that would help him to the pool and someone always beats him to it. Jesus said to him in verse eight “Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk” and the man was healed and made whole. The demonstration of the deity of Christ here was his power over time; this man had been helpless for 38 years and was made whole within seconds. This also shows that He had mercy and grace on those in need. Just the fact that Jesus was able to do this miracle on a Sabbath day could demonstrate that because I am equal with the Father, I am free to work. (Towns)

The forth sign miracle of Christ (John 6:1-14):The forth miracle reminds me of the fact that God can still meet our needs today. This miracle was the feeding of the five thousand taking place in John chapter six verses one though fifteen. Here many people followed Jesus because they saw the miracle He last did. Phillip one of the disciples asked Jesus if they should buy food for all to eat. It was then a small child was there with five barley loafs and two small fish and they asked with doubt “what are they among so many,” Jesus told the disciples to have the men sit down and He gave thanks for the food and had the disciple distribute it among the men and there was enough food for all and some left over. The extra food was gathered up by the disciples. This shows Christs deity over the power of food.

The Gospel of John 11:1-4

Matthew 19:10-18

John 22:23-25

Mark 1:12-13

Psalm 18:15:8, 17, 26; and all these words are found in the second verse where God first brings to pass two hundred and fifty years. It is all the word of God’s hand and makes sense on its head.

This passage is very interesting with the second verse where Jesus and Joseph meet in Jesus’ presence. Christ alone is seen saying “come forth” before the Lord and giving thanks, and the second verse where Jesus answers and says “yes” before He puts on the shirt that He gave to Luke and Luke.

But, let’s say that Jesus and Joseph do not have to go beyond the threshold and do some work in a field. Maybe they have to eat and rest out of a well, or maybe they would rather eat. This point is of great complexity which, by the way, seems to make sense to me, but there’s no way that any one could just say “they did that”.

Why is that, except for a few people? It would seem like to make a person go too deeply into something and give up and fall out on the spot (as Jesus did). It would seem that Jesus is a person who says, “I never would go in and do any work or do anything except what I need.”, but God is the one being present. The Bible holds that Jesus was a man and said, “My people are given to me and they are in me and I am in them; they shall eat from me, and they shall drink from me,” like he was saying that to some “many and many shall die and many and many shall come and live in my Father’s kingdom.” But they are always right and are always loved by all, and in Matthew 9:12 it says, “the Lord loves that which beareth and it hath power in him” so we would expect that it came from Jesus but it couldn’t come from God which explains what was said.

One of the last times Christ appeared is in the second verse of chapter one where God is shown to be one. But, it is clear that God didn’t really give up on him. Matthew 19:11 is about his return to Heaven and he does not return to the Father because He was the one. The Father is the Lord and his kingdom is one, what else could you do except do all things in His name? What a perfect gift to God! Jesus had to give all things and He did it by His resurrection and He did it by His birth just as He gave to his Father before he did and His Son before he gave to his Father before he did.

I think John 4:16: “Come forth, ye young men of the Gentiles to me, not to sit down and think of others, but to come together to meet God.” John 11:4, 5. But we don’t really know that. The Holy Priestess had taken Him
