Ruby Red CaseEssay Preview: Ruby Red CaseReport this essayIt wasnt just an ordinary ring, it was a luminous ruby red jewel while rotating the ring to one side was a perfectly cut marauder head along with a define ship. Above it was the letters “MUHS”. Rotating it to the other side you saw in the center a soccer ball with goal netting in the back of the ball with my jersey number 7 in the center of the ball. Above the ball was in bold letters “URIBE”. Below the soccer ball was my position “Mid” Looking in the inside in beautiful cursive writing said,” two year commitment” rotating back to the top, the rub red jewel was encased “STATE CHAMPIONS 2010″
As a high school athlete, what is the one dream above all? To me its to walk away from a season with a heavy ring on your finger. I didnt exactly stumble upon a ring of such value when I was shopping. The journey to occupying my barren finger started when I was nine years old. Pink jersey, black nike cleats, short, dorky transition glasses, and the snack at halftime stole my heart. Soccer had become a way of life and the path to my future. Going from tournaments to high school Rivalries, it has consumed me
Finally a freshman, it was tryout days, timid and nervous. After three long, hot, sweaty, and crucial days, I earned my spot on varsity. Our team was good, and being the only freshman on the team made me pick up my game and transition to their speed and train as hard even harder as they did. With all the practice, commitment, and pain we were undefeated the whole season, it was time for the state play-offs. For every shot they shot at our goal we would come back at full force to score. It was win or go home. We won all our games; it was time for the final round, state championship game. Gathering in the middle of the field holding hands amongst my team mates you could feel the excitement and determination running through all of us. From that point on we were there to win against our rivals for the state title.
Sun was still high in the sky, wonderful weather to play in. each team on their sides, ball in the middle whistle was blown. It was game time. First half was crucial and brutal. We werent going to let down. Second half was about to start, the sun was setting and temperature was dropping. My coach said,” Moe, are you ready?” I quickly took my stance and replied firmly,” Yes”. Setting foot on the field was like setting foot in a war zone, you could quickly feel the hatred between both teams. Soon after the second half started Flagstaff got a penalty kick, which kicked it wide left past the goal. It triggered us that we needed transition into offensive and score. We stayed on their side of the field for the most time, we got a throw in. Exhausted, quickly got a gasp of air and bolted from the 40mark to the 6 in seconds, while my other team mate was settling a thrown in ball and kept her poise, splitting two defenders the ball came rolling
Sun and I sat at the goal, with a calmness and respect that made me smile a thousand times more
In the second half that was what we were looking for every time, never in another game. We played our best football of the game but lost it a couple of times after that, we lost the next two games to the Phoenix Suns in their own league
I don’t think I’ve ever lost a game so close that a losing streak was anything to read about. One thing I always liked about Team Flagstaff was the passion for football and the team and the fans and even though we had been playing and finishing well at the end of their season for the majority of their last 3 years.
I’m just going to say the hardest part about going to Arizona is you are going to see fans all the way across the country cheering on the other team. As an Arizona sports fan, you have to make the most out of a day on the road.
I think my fans will go into this game feeling that we need this team to improve just as much as I was feeling when I left the game after the game.
I’m thankful we won the Super Bowl and my team won the Cup
I think we just knew it, it has just been a long road to getting to this point. We need to continue pushing it, but hopefully we’ll be out of here early. The first couple weeks we played at the end of their season, there was a bit of good playing time, and with the second half it helped us get better.
The home team were awesome as well, all my family was there
We were always up for the challenge, always ready to challenge us and play our game
They were a good team.
The Phoenix Suns were amazing, I was always there for everyone in their home, team and home dressing room. Every time they played the Suns would bring home the trophy.
One of the things I really loved about playing in the Super Bowl was this is where we have two good teams in the league that we can all benefit from.
We would all make excuses to go home at 10 and go to bed so that we would get a good shot at playing in a big year like 2012. I wasn’t able to do that, so my wife and I ended up going home to Arizona in May.
I loved my time back in Phoenix and have been going back in Phoenix ever since. When I say it felt like this season, I mean everyone was there to cheer on our team.
I don’t know that I went off the rails the few times we went home. We didn’t miss a beat. It always made me realize we had to take the team to the next level.
I know the fans will enjoy them getting going every time the game gets closer.
@TeamFlagstaff
@TeamFlagstaff It was tough for me to turn down a chance to play at the University of Arizona but I knew my team would be better if
