Social Issue 1:
Homelessness is defined as any persons lacking a “fixed, regular, or adequate night-time residence” (JumpStart Productions, 2010).
Homelessness is a real problem in the United States. It is “estimated that 672,000 people are homeless in America. This means that for every 10,000 people 22 out of them are homeless. Out of those 672,000 persons, 42% are unsheltered (meaning they are either living on the streets or in some other form of shelter not suitable for human habitation), while another 58% either lives in shelters or transitional housing” (Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, 2009). And with the present recession, it is projected that “1.5 million people will be forced into homelessness over the next two years, according to estimates by The National Alliance to End Homelessness”(JumpStart Productions, 2010).

Social Issue 2:
Internationally, one issue that could benefit from social change is reforming gender disparity in education. In the Middle East, Afghan education is reserved for boys; while girls remain home with their mothers preparing for marriage at a certain age and years of servitude.

Social Issue 3:
“Sexual trafficking is the recruitment, transportation (within national or across international borders), transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation” (The Protection Project, “What is Trafficking?”, 2000). It is achieved through methods of “fraud, deception, threats, use of force, abuse of a position, vulnerability, and other varied forms of coercion” (The Protection Project, “What is Trafficking?”, 2000).
