The study was conducted by a student group of graduate students to measure the impact more social media has on psychological and educational achievement. The students were recruited by the university’s website for a community survey of the student population and a social network survey, as well as by a community of sociologists conducting social media studies during the last 2 years. Participants were classified by age within the study and between genders and racial/ethnicities. The results indicated that the level of social networking participation among children (aged 10 to 18) increased over the first 2 years and decreased for every quarter during the second year. Furthermore youth were less likely to use Facebook (25%) and do not use Twitter (20%) at all, suggesting that the social network is not as disruptive as before, when the number of times new users of a social media platform are involved grows to include students.
