Lesson Proper
Teacher introduces the number 5 by using one group of 5students made in the game earlier as an example. Teacher makes them stand in front and ask the students seated to count the members of the group standing in front of them.
Show them 4 concrete objects with different shapes.
Draw the shapes on the chalkboard and introduce to children. Draw a square and count the sides. Introduce a pentagon and count the sides.
Teacher writes the numeral 5 on the board and the number word five. Teacher counts the five items with different shapes together with the students.
Allow children to pick up five various things inside the classroom. Explain the Sets of Five.
“Line up game”: Line up the items from smallest to biggest. Shortest to tallest.
Teacher helps them identify basic shapes from the items they found.
