Narrative Essay
Do you ever make decisions that seem minuscule or that you dont think will affect your life one way or the other? My sophomore year of High School, I was in a situation where I made a decision that was due to peer pressure. It was the Fall of my Sophomore year. In the halls at school, students constantly spoke about marijuana , they made it sound so fun, and luckily my buddy Kenny just happened to always have a pocket full. In the hallway one morning, before classes began, Kenny and I began laughing at how funny it would be to see me high, we discussed going to smoke before school started, because we still had twenty whole minutes before first hour. We decided the smart and sly thing to do would be to meet up behind the baseball field to have a little smoke, because who would ever think to look back there? I agreed and we headed that way. As we exited the front doors, my heart was about to beat out of my chest. I felt very nervous and anxious about what I was about to do. The next thing I know the head principal is yelling from behind us “Hey! Where are you boys going!?” We tried to act like we didnt hear him and began walking much faster, but the faster we walked, the faster he walked. Kenny ditched the weed in the bushes directly in front of him, the principal saw everything. I just thought that my heart was going to beat out of my chest before, now I feel like Im having a panic attack and everything was in slow motion. Thoughts were racing through my mind, what do I do! Should I run, but to where? Once we realized what was happening, we stopped and turned around and decided to take what was coming to us. This was not an easy decision mostly due to the fact that our principal was no joke, he was a retired drill sergeant from the United States Army. On the way back in all I could think about was what my parents were going to do to me. I already knew I was going to be expelled from school, that was a given. He didnt even give us the pleasure of sitting in his office. I literally began to shake. As we sat waiting, I felt a soft pair of hands rubbing my shoulders, it was a friend of my parents who just happened to be the Sophomore secretary of my school. She said, “Oh, Kyle, I feel for you, I bet you didnt know that I have known your parents my whole life, and I dont know what your Dad is going to do to you.” Next thing I hear is my Mom screaming as she walked through the front entrance, followed by my Dad. My Dads jaw was clenched so tightly I thought he would crack all of his teeth. Ive seen variations of that look before, I knew I was in deep trouble this time. Neither one of them acknowledged me as they walked past. About twenty minutes later they came up to me and said “lets go.” We went to my locker to get my books, the hallway seemed like the green mile, for both of them were silent. I opened my
