When he started on writing the original novel, the first person he told was Michael A. Moore and he then made three different choices:

The first idea that was developed in London had a name: ‘The Hanoi Murder Mystery’. The people who had been murdered in that story were:

Brett McKay and

Mona Lisa Hansen,

Drayden Ward

Both B.L. and Mona Lisa Hansen were murdered in a novel and Michael A. Moore made two choices.

Michael A. Moore made three choices:

“My first choice would be to create a completely original screenplay in film. This would take place when all of America was on the brink of extinction, in order to take advantage of the world’s problems.

I think that’s the most possible choice for our future and that will be great. But to do that, I decided to develop a different type of thriller. In a world where the human species is slowly being killed to death… I decided to tell a really original story in film. It took a little while, but it was worth it. It was written in English.”

As for writing the movie in English, while the director could only do so much and the character wasn’t a big part of the story, the story of the narrator was. The narrator is a man who is trapped in the mind of another man and is trying desperately to escape. It is the story of those two people.

For example, in the final chapter of the book, there are several hidden and typically vague hints that the governess is probably strangling Miles: “my hands-but it was for pure tenderness-shook him as if to ask him why” (Henry James p.83) -.
