In the reading article, the author suggests three problems of sending humans to the Mars in the near future. In contradiction, the speaker accordingly rejects the reading material in the perspectives of carrying food, the problem of zero gravity, and the danger of solar radiation. Firstly, the speaker points out that admittedly it is almost impossible to carry the food for about two months. However, there is a technology called hydroponics, which could accomplish the goal of cultivating plants in the water instead of the soil. Thus astronauts will have enough food supplement in the space craft. In addition, the water can be cleaned into drinking water and due to the new technology, humans in the space craft will have fresh air. Secondly, the author claims zero gravity could cause the decrease of body weight and bone density. However, the speaker refutes that astronauts could reduce the damage by having regular exercise, which prevents more calcium from losing out of the body. On the other hand, many astronauts come back from their mission safely after suffering from zero gravity for a few months. Thirdly, the author points out that solar radiation is dangerous. But according to the speakers point of view, solar radiation is only dangerous when the sun is occasionally active. It is possible to have a modifier or instrument to change the radiation. Another solution is that people could just find a small space in the space craft and build the shelter outside of this tiny area, which effectively decreases the total weight of the space craft. By pointing out those three alternative solutions, the speaker supports his idea that it is possible to send humans to Mars in the coming decades.
