Teams can be constructed many different ways depending on the situation at hand and consist of all types of individuals or players to make up that team. Any time individuals come together to form a team there is a common goal that every member of the team is aware of. In order to reach this common goal, every member of the team must follow his role, and make his or her adequate contribution to the team effort. More often than not when individuals with different views and personalities have to work together and coincide there is some form of conflict or disagreement that presents itself. These disagreements dont have to be out of pure malice, but could be due to individuals just not seeing eye to eye when it comes to certain issues.
As seen in many other places there is a definitely a team atmosphere and co-habitation within organizations. Individuals are assorted in offices and cubicles with certain goals and quotas they must work together in some way to reach. So since there is a team atmosphere conflict is also evident. In this case I would like to reference to a specific conflict situation regarding comradery. Since I work in retail at the moment the sales aspect of the job is key, anytime you have several salespeople working in close proximity and they all have quotas to meet, there is unavoidable conflict. In this case conflict stems anywhere from stealing sales, merging on sales, entertaining someone elses customers and many other things. With the proper communication and comradery amongst these employees I believe most of these struggles can be avoided.
When choosing an exercise or activity for Team-Building one must choose wisely. The activity needs to be enticing enough for everyone to buy into and cooperate with using all their efforts. At the same time the exercise must have depth and meaning providing you results and added feedback in the end. With the main conflict problem being the comradery amongst the team I chose a team activity that everyone must work with each other to accomplish. Being the sports fanatic that I am I thought some form of sport would be a great activity and speak volumes to the team atmosphere and overall comradery amongst employees. I personally was introduced to sports at a young age. This taught me discipline, patience, social skills, sharing, humbleness and many other things. So the sport I chose was slow pitch softball. Ive always been a basketball fan myself and not much of a baseball fan, but I still enjoy the game of baseball. I chose baseball as opposed to Basketball or Flag Football because baseball is Americas favorite pastime. Most everyone has played baseball at or one point or time in their lives, if not they understand the concept of the game, baseball is also less likely to be dominated by size or athleticism such as a sport like basketball.
When introducing the contest to the employees I would split the employees up into two teams balancing levels of intelligence and athleticism making the contest as fair as possible. It is important to explain to the employees that we are here to enjoy ourselves, but just like at work when we have a goal to reach we want give our best for our teams to reach the ultimate goal, a win. I would then encourage my employees to really use each other and team work to will themselves to a win. Whatever the action may be, rooting for each other, giving tips, joking with each other, individuals must work together. It is important to make it very clear to the employees that the team that works the best with each
I wouldn’t want people to feel like they are a part of a team that is being run by bad people. It’s ok to have bad players in every team – and, if you want to succeed you have to work with people who are good at what they do, so be it. It’s fine to give people tips or get good service by saying good things to work with. Those are just suggestions, rather than a way of getting information from the company. It is my heart that it makes sense to the employees for every team that is trying to win. And it also makes sense to the employees when they are working with a company that is trying to do some other good than their own.

It is also important to show support for the organization as we develop and grow as a team. When I got to meet the organization I had a good time for a few hours, and really enjoyed it. I saw a lot of the organization’s people and I went over a ton of the various things they did. It was always nice to work with them. I felt as though I was a part of a lot of them, and I got to interact a lot. It always helps when you work together and work out what you need to do at the table.
I wouldn’t ask the employees to vote to get rid of the organization because we already know who they will be voting on. Because a lot of that work needs doing. There is no clear direction for how people should behave as a team – it should be a shared goal. Some employees just need to do their part. And at the end of the day that should put you on the side of good, good people.
