Abstract
Males always seem to get the role of the predator and females the victims, but I believe that when both are aware of what they are doing, the age difference, and agree to have sex, they are neither. There are many cases where the male has had sex with a minor and vice versa but the male gets charged with much more than the female. Why are girls viewed as victims when they are fully aware of their actions? This law is unreasonable towards males and is very commonly used against them.
Statutory Rape Laws Are Patronizing To Girls and Discrimatory To Boys
“A 17-year-old boy had sex with his 14-year-old girlfriend, he was charged with a felony for statutory rape. When a 17-year-old girl in the same town committed the same crime, she was charged with far less.” compares Constantino Dias Roman. It’s no wonder if statutory rape laws are gender bias; this is just one of many gender swap situations where the male is always looked at as the predator and females as victims. Some questions that I will answer in my argument are
Why was this law made?
Why are woman being charged less than men and is it fair?
How do women take advantage of this law to purposely put men in jail?
