“Hope for the Flowers”

“Hope for the Flowers” is a story of lifes learnings and how every individual view life with differences. It is about deciding what we really want. This interesting story will make you realize things in life that you once enjoyed and once regretted. I must say, its worth the time and space on your file.

Stripe and Yellow made this story meaningful. Stripe, was once a striped caterpillar who was not satisfied with his own state. Hes looking for more things that life could offer. Stripe, upon curiosity, joined the pile of squirming caterpillars, pushing and hurting each other to make it to the top where no one knows whats behind. During his journey, he met Yellow, a yellow caterpillar. They become acquaintance and both of them decided to go down and not to continue climbing. They lived together and enjoyed each other’s company. But they both knew, it wasnt what they wanted most. For Stripe, there must be more to life. One day, he saw three caterpillars fall from the top. This made him more curious about whats up there so he told Yellow that he will climb again. It was hard for them, especially for Yellow. She felt different every minute when she missed Stripe. While being alone, Yellow saw a cocoon trying its way to become a butterfly. She was deeply amazed with the cocoon saying that a worm will soon be a beautiful butterfly and will be a key to grow more flowers. Yellow still have doubts but eventually decided to let go of everything even if shes not aware of whats going to happen. With her courage to face a new thing, she became a butterfly proud roaming up the sky. Stripe, on the other hand, was feared by the other caterpillars. Just to get to the top, he became self-centered and boastful, insensitive of how the other caterpillars felt for him. When he finally reached the top, he was disgusted seeing nothing but nothing. That time, Stripe was so hopeless until he saw Yellow, who was then already a wonderful butterfly, circling and flying loudly around them. Stripe moved down and decided to come back where he came and where he started. He eventually realized what he really wanted. When the time came that he was somehow ready, he let go of everything even with uncertainty, and Stripe became a butterfly.

The author, Trina Paulos, made this story somehow designed for kids, but in a deeper interpretation, it encompasses lifes important teachings and lessons. I loved how she used butterflies as representations for people in real life. She also has a very unique style that she made this a wholesome one. The exchange of dialogues between the characters of the story are worth sharing to hopeless people. This story can be told to kids without them getting bored, and to adults with its overflowing lessons.

Hope for the flowers- When I first heard this title, I thought the story was about a girl who has passion for growing flowers. What I thought might seem simple but I cannot help it, were talking about flowers here and theyre simple for me. Upon reading it, I have made my own interpretation of the title. It was just simply about butterflies being hope for flowers or in a deeper manner, each of us can be a hope for this
