There are many distractions in this world that take up a students time from studying. We call those distractions/temptations “marshmallows”, the most obvious marshmallow is in fact the cellphone. Every student has to have some sort of cell phone, whether its an iPhone, Android or even a flip phone. They are all distractions, and most importantly it pulls away ones attention from studying. Of course a cellphone isn’t just used now a days from just phone calls. Technology improves day by day, and now you can do way more, for example if you look on someones cell there has to be at least one social media application, it is a huge deal in this generation. Students are glued on their cellphones instead of being glued on their homework and study time. This marshmallow becomes a temptation, an urge to simply grab your phone and constantly refresh your Twitter feed or scroll down your Instagram page. Those two social media applications are one of the main reasons students can not concentrate on their work. Twitter is an application that millions of individuals have, unfortunately it is a mobile app so anyone can download it in their phone. This marshmallow is a daily distraction for students, it is never going to go away, well unless they do not own a cellphone, which is rare now a days. Most of a students day is taken up by the marshmallow, from replying to a text to even taking pictures, it hardly takes up a small amount of someones day. Someone might feel a certain way if they do not use Twitter on a daily basis, people are driven to always know the new gossip, unfortunately that is what twitter is really about. Other than social media, you can download games on a cellphone, that can also grab someones mindset to get on and play a specific game.
