What I Want to Learn in Drawing
What I Want to Learn in Drawing
So Ill start off by saying that I really didnt know all too much about drawing. I am a graphic design major taking my core credits basically, and I was excited to have a studio class ( I was a business major for 2 years until now). I never took drawing in high school. I took two art classes, one was Art 2-D and the other was Art 3-D. My favorite of the two was 2-D. It gave us the option of using any media that would choose. The students that wanted to learn how to draw were grouped together and the ones that wanted to paint were grouped. It was a fun class because we could sort of go at our own rate. But that class taught me how to put creations in my head onto canvas. I really enjoyed that class.
So far, I really enjoy the Drawing fundamentals class. I was sort of skeptical for the first few weeks. I found the blind contour drawings boring. But, now that I look back it taught me the ground basics of drawing. Then came the drawings that we could look. I enjoyed that a little bit more because I could judge my work a little better. I had a small increase of skill in each picture that I did. The homework assigned helped keep me from forgetting what was learned in class. Then we got to the Charcoal. I was really skeptical with the charcoal. Before this class I had never used charcoal. I cant remember the last time I used it. I remember my first two sketches were so bad. I didnt think that I could really grasp it. Then the next class I did in my opinion one of my best drawings yet. Then we were assigned the next class to draw a place in the building. I received multiple compliments in the hallway while drawing it. It really felt good to hear someone say that its really good. In my opinion, I find myself with just average skills. Its nice to know Ive got a little talent.
Over the past few weeks we have been working on a portfolio project. I get really nervous when I
