Opening a business in a particular region does require much homework when attempting to cater to that cultures values and preferences. Companies doing business globally must ensure they have extensively surveyed and researched the most suitable amenities in order to ensure their business prospers.
A great example is how fast food operates globally with Mcdonalds being domestically born, over the past decade it has flourished tremendously abroad. Despite their tasty fries and mouth watering burgers that we Americans enjoy so much the menu is a little different in places such as Chile, hamburgers arent as popular there and to adapt to the consumer Mcdonalds had to institute some of the cultures own creations on the menu in order to sustain and be profitable. Many of the sandwiches are not made with traditional buns and the meat is often not in patty form, however Mcdonalds kept a good part of their identity by keeping their French fries original. Another company who has taken on this transformation to sustain is the subway in Brazil, unlike the sub sandwiches here in the U.S. these creations are more authentic, filling and appealing to the eye. The subway in this part of the world does not focus on cold cuts as its primary meat but beef, its included on nearly all subs and if not beef then pork is the meat of choice. These subs are made exactly like the subs in the U.S. are allowing Subway to keep some of its own identity but the huge difference is in the meats that and topping that are used, a typical sub is composed of a thin cut of beef or pork, lettuce, tomato and onion and it certainly looks delicious. Companies must learn to adapt some of the countries different customs and practices to survive in their culture , this requires doing a lot of research and surveying to ensure the product or service the business offers will be widely utilized and most suitable to gain a profit from.
